Can ResMed Make AirTouch F30?

Post by GreenThumb » Mon Oct 09, 2023 12:10 pm

Been using the AirTouch FF F20 for a few months since diagnosis, and it works, well, sorta...(I need FF since I'm a long-time mouth breather). Still have nose bridge irritation and lotsa leaks in spite of replacement of cushion. I recently tried an AirFit F30...and I could like it but they don't seem to make the foam cushion for it. Am I out of luck? The silicone cushion gets moist and sweaty and that causes leaks and noises. I think if I had a foam cushion for the F30 I might just be happy...any suggestions?

It's not in development. I am guessing that the nasal outlets in foam would be problematic.

You could try a mask liner - https://www.padacheek.com/mask-liners-full-face

I wish I had some suggestions for you GreenThumb.

I am experiencing the exact same issue with the Air Touch F20 mask. The Air Touch F20 is the only mask I could find so far that I can tolerate out of the many I've tried. However, the air touch still leaves a red line on my nose bridge and it looks like the skin there is irritated once the red line disappears.

As Chicago Granny pointed out, there is a nasal mask by Resmed (N20, I think) with a foam cushion. I know you say are a mouth breather. Is this the case even when using cpap? I have a deviated septum and I was a mouth breather. Since using cpap, I am now able to switch between nasal and mouth in the night. Unfortunately, not good enough for me to use a nasal mask. I've tried. However, a nasal mask might work for you if cpap has helped your mouth breathing. I know some folks on this forum have had luck using nasal masks even with a deviated septum...I wish you the best of luck.

I didn't, but there is. My link was to pad-a-cheek for mask liners for most masks. Have you tried a mask liner? Many people make their own.

:lol! Sorry Chicago Granny. I see now you posted a link to Pad-A-Cheek. Yes, I've tried Pad-A-Cheek mask liners and those cheep silent night ones. I guess they work in that I can get a mask seal, but I still have those pesky marks. I even tried to make one, but same thing. I think I may have the most sensitive facial skin on earth. :D

Doctor says I should give nose bridge a break for a week and try again with air touch once it heals. Since I've tried so many masks, that was their suggestion; however, it means no cpap.

I saw many posts on this site with other members saying their nose bridge got better/tougher over time. I have not had the same experience after many months of use. I'm not sure what I will do. Thanks!

Why don't you use a FFM that does not touch the nose bridge? ResMed F30i or F30. There are other brands.

I've tried the Resmeds F30i and F30 but I have trouble breathing the nose pieces. Those masks themselves are fairly comfortable, except for the nose holes. Maybe bc my nose is crooked and won't line up with the holes? I still have both masks and try them every now and again with no luck. I tried all sizes too.

I most currently tried the F&P Evora, but kept feeling lightheaded after an hour or so of use. I finally managed to fall asleep with it a few times; however, I keep pulling it off at night without remembering and waking up with the mask on the floor. My Air shows no major leaks. :-) I think the lightheaded feeling is a psychological. I feel like I can breathe fine through the mask and air hole vents seem to be venting. At least I hope it's in my head. LOL. Perhaps I'm used to bigger masks and find the smaller ones claustrophobic? I'm not sure.

I think I'll try the Evora tonight again. I just got an SD card, so maybe I can post on a new thread the results to see if anyone sees something in the Oscar report that can shed light on why I might be pulling off the mask.

Thanks!

Wow. When these style masks were introduced, many users said they took away the feeling of claustrophobia that they got with traditional FFMs.

It's common for users to have feelings like this while they lie waiting for sleep to come on. When they fall asleep, they breathe easily and gently.

Important tip: Don't do that.
