Question about the V-Com
If you're not familiar with it the V-Com is a small device placed between your mask and hose. It softens the inhale with no effect on the exhale. I've been using it for a few weeks and right away all of my overnight numbers improved dramatically. This is great, but my skeptical mind has this question. Is it possible that having this device between the mask and the machine causes the machine to misread what's actually happening at the mask, thereby giving false results?

They claim no. It's just another resistor in the breathing circuit. Different masks have different pressure drop values (they are resistors as well) so I wouldn't worry about it.

Re: Question about the V-Com
It is a FLOW RESTRICTOR.
Cheap motels put them in the shower head to "save water."
Of course, it takes much longer to rinse off the soap and shampoo.
Net effect: frustrated guests!
Restrict my AIR, and I will get a lot more than irritated!

Insert one of those bacteria filters instead and get the same results. AHI=0

It's my assumption that in order to improve dramatically, it has to have been bad to start with. If this is the case, why have you not used OSCAR and this forum to optimize your therapy without using a "gimmick"*?
* My judgment is held about the value of V-Com
