Hello,
Due to the recall, I received a replacement Philips Dreamstation2 which was apparently 'refurbished' (not sure if that matters). I was still trying to get used to the original one with the biggest issue being the air pressure was set too high so I would wake up being unable to breathe due to the that. I have had this 'new' machine for several months and was still unable to get used to it. I actually started getting anxious at bedtime because I connected wearing it with being woken up in a panic and feeling like I was suffocating about 1-2 hours into use. This was different than the other as there was no sound coming from the machine at all and no air was blowing , but the machine was not off. The air would stay off for about 1 minute before forcefully starting again which would be overwhelming like being in a wind tube. While there was no airflow coming out I could not breathe through my mouth or nose - it was literally like I had a plastic bag over my face. I would panic and rip the mask off then be up the rest of the night. I originally thought this was an issue on my end physically or psychologically until I had the mask on while reading and the air flow stopped. It felt like air was actually being sucked into the machine instead of the other way around. I have tried having the DME look at it and they will not because the machine was not purchased through them (received it in a different state and then the replacement machine is considered from Philips so neither DME will touch it). Doctor has reset settings twice and I've replaced the hose, reservoir, power cable, and used 4 different masks, 1 full, the rest nasal only (with and without chinstrap). Philips is a b***h to deal with and if I am lucky to get through, every time they claim I need to troubleshoot something new on my end first before they will accept it back to repair or replace. I feel like it's excuse after excuse not to fix.
Has anyone else ever experienced this? If so, was there any resolution?
I cannot afford a new device. I had such bad insurance when I got this one that I paid pretty much the whole thing out of pocket with a small 'discount' from the insurance company. My new insurance is much better but they will not approve a new device since this one is not 5 years old so I am kinda stuck. My AHI is 39 and my SPO2 gets down to the low 80's at night so I need to get this treated, but I feel really stuck.
Replacement Philips DreamStation Air Flow Interruptions
Re: Replacement Philips DreamStation Air Flow Interruptions
So, first, sorry for you troubles.
I don't know if this is YOUR issues, but a bunch of us have seen what we call "phantom disconnects" or "multiple sessions" with the DS2. And it happens almost as if on a schedule, ie once an hour. However as near as anyone can tell, airflow is not ceasing (at least that I've heard from anyone).
I BELIEVE Auto "OFF" can be turned off in the machine. Let me check that for you.

Do you have OSCAR? Or even Dreammapper?
