In the experience of those of you who use pressures 10 - 11: do you hear the motor rev up when you breathe in and when it does the FOT?
My machine starts quietly enough, but then gets louder.
Background info:
I started raising my pressure because I noticed I do have fewer obstructive events and less flow limitations when the pressure is higher - and I can tolerate the higher pressure, (couldn't in the past)
Concurrent to that, my humidifier leaked and I had to buy a new one.
When I start the machine, the new humidifier seems to make some kind of clacking noise - not loud. I haven't found a way of settling the lid that will keep this from happening.
The silicon seal inside the lid is very loose.
Questions:
Could the increasing noise be related to the new (but faulty) humidifier tub?
Can I use the machine without the humidifier, using that plastic seal side piece instead - at leas to see how the noise develops during the night?
Should I try to buy a new humidifier, or should I start thinking of a new machine? The present one, which had a blower replaced during warranty is about 3.5 years old. Very upsetting. Makes me want to buy from another company....

Using EPR could have something to do with it. If you have the EPR set at 3 with a pressure of 10, every time you exhale, the pressure drops to 7. 10/7 10/7, Inhale 10/ Exhale 7.

Re: Faulty (?) Autoset AS10 - need advice
It is my opinion that the market needs to provide better competition because ResMed is starting to slip in it's quality control, build quality, and premarket testing.
In my experience, I consider the 8 to have been the pinnacle of great design and reliability for ResMed. Better than the 7 I used briefly, better than the 9, 10, and (based on reading, not experience) the 11.
I keep cheering for another company, any company, to catch up and surpass ResMed. But I don't see it any time soon, sadly. Competition would be a healthy thing, and when the other runners aren't up to par, the lead runner starts to slack off too.
I have found my three 8s to be built like convenient, reliable military tanks. My S9 is a little iffy: Cutesy, great technology, but a bit cheap and difficult to manage.
I have had three 10s, two of which have had various noise issues that developed over time. I run my APAPs 8 to 20 with EPR of 3. One has a noisy seal and the other has a noisy motor. The third still seems OK for now, although I have to position my pillow carefully to keep from hearing the machine through the mask.
I still use an 8 as my travel machine.
I will still recommend a ResMed 10 over everything else out there, but only because it is a less-problematic brand than the others and has superior technology. Other than that, I consider ResMed to be visibly slipping from the present lack of market competition.
Just my 2 cents.
I still love ResMed machines, and I still have issues with how the company is run. But hey, just me.

Re: Faulty (?) Autoset AS10 - need advice
If I don't use the humidifier tub (empty) and instead use a blanking plate, Io hear a lot more transmitted noise through the hose. so I just run with an empty tank most of the time.ozij wrote: ↑Tue Sep 19, 2023 11:25 am

Check the filter, and you might try swapping the seal from the old tank, if you still have it.
Get OSCAR
Accounts to put on the foe list: dataq1, clownbell, gearchange, lynninnj, mper!?, DreamDiver, Geer1, almostadoctor, sleepgeek, ajack, stom, mogy, D.H., They often post misleading, timewasting stuff.

Re: Faulty (?) Autoset AS10 - need advice
Thanks, guys.
EPR: possible, since I did try raising EPR from 2 to 3 when I upped the pressure.
Quality and competition: Sigh....
In principle, I can get European machines where I live.I do sleep better on fixed pressure and my AHI is not REM related [old sleep study]. So the issue boils down to noise, humidification and software. Have checked none of the above yet, but will.
I believe that Resmed is attempting to make their machines lighter and smaller as part of the general attempt by manufacturers to cut the weight of equipment they ship: less weight = less fuel used per machine shipped. You can be cynical and say the only want to cut shipping costs, but it boils down to the same thing: less fuel used per machine shipped = less harm to the atmosphere.
Seal and filter: I don't have the older seal, but I decided to replace the filter with a new one. And thanks for the tip about the plate - that's one test I won't be doing.
Will keep you updated.

Re: Faulty (?) Autoset AS10 - need advice
Update:
The changed filter did not bring much improvement - maybe a bit. I'm very careful about the way I close the humidifier, and I'm on EPR=2.
Not much difference
Don't really understand what makes it worse or better - but sometimes it almost feels like the noise wakes me up.
I do my best not let it make me too
to sleep, but that's not easy!
