Long term user still need naps, tired on wakening

Post by Dave66660 » Wed Sep 06, 2023 12:42 pm

Been using cpap for 7 years now. Very difficult to get used to for 3 months or more. Am male, now 58 years old.
Now wear mask average of 7.5-8.5 hrs a night, ie whole sleep duration but still wake up pretty exhausted and have to nap for 20 minutes around 5pm just to get through the day.
Tried everything, my AHI is 3.5 so as good as it can be and no leaks. My testosterone dropped shortly after starting cpap so now have to supplement with trt just to bring it up to near normal.
Can't get anymore help from local sleep centre. I think my sleep is fragmented and I grind teeth according to dentist so they kindly made a mouth guard.
Life has not been fun and everything is a constant struggle with brain fog fatigue, lack of energy low libido etc. I eat well and exercise but I get post exertional symptoms too which knock me out the next day especially in warm weather. I am wondering is there still a problem with my sleep? Can't get any help from any Gp services or Sleep centres, they say I am doing fine 😴

around here, we don't consider an ahi of 3.5 to be "as good as it can be". you have room for improvement. and the forum would like to help you get that ahi lower.

but to do that, we need to get some info from you. for instance, we don't all use the same machine or mask and these can have their own special issues.

we would also need to see your data. you've told us your ahi. but ahi is broken up into various and sundry events. it's these events we'd need to see.

tell you what, sir; why not read the following thread and give us what we need-
viewtopic/t172378/Sticky--Newbies-PLEAS ... STING.html

if you have any questions about any of the things you read, please ask. and if you would be so kind, please stay in this thread. it is now your very own therapy thread.

good luck!
people say i'm self absorbed.
but that's enough about them.
