Why does my O2 reporting not reflect my Oscar reporting ?

Post by Albatros » Wed Jun 21, 2023 2:49 am

Last night, for example, was particularly bad with an AHI of 5.4 reported in OSCAR, with, in particular, a cluster of 8 OA's at one point.
I expected this to translate into my O2 Ring reporting by lowering the SPO2.
But in fact, I had NO impact. It remained perfect. Which leads me to doubt the quality of the reporting of my ring.
Would you have an idea?

THANK YOU

Home O2 monitors may do OK for catching larger and longer dips in O2, but they may not do so well at catching the brief little dips that accompany sleep-breathing events.

Also, for many of us, sustained O2 can get corrected at a lower treatment pressure than what may be needed to prevent sleep from being disturbed from an insufficiently stabilized airway. That is why our fixing our sustained O2, although that is important to do, proves nothing much, really, about whether our therapy pressure is sufficiently optimized for fixing our sleep.

On the OSCAR display, click on the Events tab in the lower left corner. Check how long each of the 8 OAs is. If they are short, your SPO2 may not have been affected significantly.

I can hold my breath for a minute before I start seeing any oxygen desaturaiton.

It's not an instantaneous process like many people imagine.

Based on a couple of your other posts your "OAs" probably aren't even OAs. Check that first.
Freeze this moment a little bit longer.
Make each sensation a little bit stronger.
Experience slips away.

My "bad" cluster lasted 20 mn with 11 OA's, each one lasting more than 20 seconds, without mentionning several miserable phases not mentioned as OA by Oscar.
When I look at my O2 reporting at this very moment, it looks great ! Never below 95, with an average of 97.
Strange ?

No way to tell without data.

Sleep apnea does not *always* result in desaturations, which is why sleep apnea can't be diagnosed with an oximeter.

Images concerning the non impact on O2 of bad breathing episodes
Image

At 00:00 several OA's and close to zero impact

Between 02:25 and 03:25 miserable breathing and the O2 reporting doesn't care

Thank you
