Airfit P10 XS "For Her" hissing loudly with each inhale/exhale (recording included).

Hello all, first-time poster. Hoping someone could lend a hand.

I'm a new CPAP user and have used an Airfit F20 for a couple nights. Tonight I wanted to try the Airfit P10, and I noticed it makes a loud hissing noise every time I inhale and exhale, which doesn't abate no matter how I position or tighten the mask. It is much, much louder than my Resmed Airsense 10 machine. The noise happens whether the mask is plugged into the machine or not, and whether there is water in the humidity tank or not. I have confirmed the noise is coming from the mask itself, not the end of the tubing. I have narrow nostrils, so breathing can sometimes be a bit difficult, but there is no issue with airflow when the CPAP machine is on. So I don't think the noise is because of turbulence inside my nostrils.

I want to love this mask, but the aforementioned problem makes it unusable. I am wondering if the one I have is defective, or if it's the wrong size for me.

Video demonstration below. Not comfortable showing my face, but it conveys the problem well.

welcome to the zoo!

did the p10 come with an array of sizes? if so, try the next size up.

or you can try using lansinoh which is a lanolin product used by nursing mothers for sore nipples. the lanolin is slightly tacky and helps the pillows adhere to the nostrils.

in any event, what you're doing now isn't getting a good seal and is detrimental to your therapy as you are losing therapeutic air.

good luck!

eta: forgot to mention it can be found in the infant care aisle of grocery store or pharmacy. or of course on amazon.
people say i'm self absorbed.
but that's enough about them.

Hi there!

I was only provided with the XS, but I contacted my DME provider and they exchanged it for a S. It seems a bit quieter, but it still makes a lot of noise during inhale/exhale. I'll check out the lanolin product; I do already have handwashing soap that contains lanolin but that may not produce the same effect, haha. Thank you for the advice, I will update on how it goes.

please do! it's hard enough to get used to cpap without some annoying noise going on.

Lansinoh is 100% purified lanolin.
Non-purifed, it smells like sheep sweat--not easy to use, nose-wise.

It is also a good idea to hold the frame up to the light, to check for blockage
in the mesh--a water pic will clear it easily.
