May Have Found a Picky Reason to Complain about my AirSense 11

Post by MJS_ » Fri Apr 07, 2023 11:35 pm

When I want to adjust the comfort settings of my AirSense 11 before going to bed or when I want to get back to sleep after waking up during the night, I need to turn on all the lights in my bedroom in order to read ResMed's dim display. This is not conducive to falling asleep! My search of the user manual revealed no way to adjust the display brightness, and my search of this forum revealed the AirSense 10 also has this problem. Is there still no brightness adjustment?

What about keeping a small flashlight beside the machine so you can direct it at the display without turning on all the lights?

From the manual:
Notes:
• The screen will fade and then go black automatically after a short period of time. Tap the screen to turn
it back on.

• If power is interrupted during therapy, the device will automatically restart therapy when power is
restored.
The device has a light sensor that adjusts the screen brightness based on the light in the room.
(My emphasis)

Did you try tapping the screen before you turned on all the bright lights? Seems to me it will actually shine brighter if you try to look at it (after a tap) in the dark.

On my Airsense 10, the light sensor can be found on the front.
A flashlight turns the brightness on; but a little UV manicure light will too.
Just aim the light at the sensor.

I didn't expect to be ordering a mini UV nail lamp today, nor did I know what that was.

And I didn't realize you were a chunky cheeky gal! :)

I notice you have an AirSense "For Her" machine. Does it give you the option to select their standard non-gendered algorithm? I saw a youtube video that was very critical of their "For Her" algorithm.

Both settings are available.
Don't believe everything you hear on YouTube.
A lot of "hits" mean MONEY--this discourages honesty.

Amazon delivered my UV nail light today. Wouldn't it be nice if Amazon were your DME provider!

At first the thing did not seem to work on my AirSense 11, until I discovered that ResMed moved their light sensor from the display screen (where it was in the AirSense 10) to the top of the unit on the right of the power button.

Thanks for the tip!

What makes you think they're not?

(It had to be said.)

It's the faintly blue pretty one that you REALLY don't want to look at, you'll wake up with sand in your eyeballs the next day.

Early on, when my first born was welding, he managed to get a flash burn.
Sandy eyes for a few days. He learned more quickly after that.

There was a fairly well known incident at a nightclub a few years ago where someone decided that they'd use UVC bulbs because they thought the pale blue was 'cool' or something.

Lots of people with injuries after that.
