Soft Cervical Collar

For those that use one, what position do you sleep in? Is it ok to sleep on your back?

It may be "OK", or may be best for wearing a collar, but I know others who wear it on their sides and it's usually better that way because back sleeping tends to provoke lots of hypopneas which I imagine would not lead to a good AHI.

I've seen posts from back-sleepers who do poorly without a SCC and very well with one. For other people, back-sleeping is going to go poorly no matter what. Also, I've seen posts from side-sleepers who need a SCC to do well. (They probably tuck their chins down toward their chests, curled up in a ball.) So there's a lot of variation out there, I think!

The other variable is your pillow. If you use a high pillow, or several pillows, you may have a greater need for a SCC no matter what position you sleep in. If you can afford to experiment, you could try a pillow designed to keep your neck properly aligned.

firm foam cervical collar is what it's called. (sorry, pendant in me just leaped out!)

i use a collar. i don't sleep on my back because it raises my ahi. i believe this is due to my tongue sliding back partially and block my airway.

ymmv.
people say i'm self absorbed.
but that's enough about them.

You can sleep in any position if your machine settings are appropriate.
