negative reaction to LankyLefty
I am not aware of anyone having a negative reaction to Jason. Maybe I missed it. Many here have opinions that differ from his on specific subjects, but no one that I know of considers that a negative in and of itself. It is a positive for there to be a variety of online opinions on such matters. Healthy discussion and all that. Jason posts in this forum once in a while, shows an amazingly great attitude toward posters here, and is even a bit of a, um, poster boy for a few of the females here of a certain age, it seems. Running joke, that.

LankyLefty used to say . . . and now . . . , but I'm smart enough to ignore that.
Not all are, so we tend to be vocal and push back on some of his points in protection of newbies and those less informed who might take his every whim as gospel, but we don't actually push against him. I mean, how could anybody not appreciate his helpful attitude and willingness to engage? Particularly exemplary for a tuber. I strongly disagree with some of his points, but I don't consider him dangerous, unlike . . .

the Australian guy
He had a very public meltdown and name-calling session as a negative reaction to some on this forum when he posted here and in some of his online videos. I did my best to give him the benefit of the doubt, myself. But I have since written him off as a noisy dog-and-pony show. Hey, just me. LIve and let live. Hope some find him helpful, in spite of himself.

I didn't articulate about not wanting comments very well, but that's my fault
Not every post by anyone will always be perfectly clear. But I'm sure the board appreciates your apologetically parsed clarification. Communication styles differ. Other than my wishy-washiness, most of the frequent posters around here seem to lean toward unedited reaction with rifle-shot clarity and directness, which is sometimes easily misinterpreted as anger, animosity, or belligerent rancor.

I feel more knowledgeable
Hopefully a few lurkers got something out of the thread, too.

May your therapy continue to go well, sir.

Like I have always said....the only hard fast rule about things related to cpap is that there are no hard fast rules.

You learned something and that's a good thing. You have developed a better understanding of the basics to this therapy and that's a good thing. You learned a bit more about your own preferences, wants and needs as well...always a good thing.

Yes, a very good thing. The more I read about the trouble some new PAPers have adjusting, and how fragile sleep remains for many, I realize how blessed I am to have taken to it so easily. Pure dumb luck, that, I suppose. I was a hot mess when I was diagnosed and felt awful, but PAP therapy was both extremely effective and a breeze to adapt to.

Of course, having only gotten curious about this subject I was unaware of the Australian guy's history, but that does not sound good at all. LankyLefty does seem to hold some pretty doctrinaire positions, I'm more in tune with Pugsy's view on things, the only rule is there are no rules, and find what works for you.

Anyway, thanks to all for the education, I appreciate it very much.
Initial diagnosis = severe, current stats (02/09/2025): weight 220 lbs, Airsense 10 Autoset with ClimateLine Air tubing, F40 mask, Climate and tube temp = Auto, CPAP pressure = 13, ramp = off, EPR = 3
