new cpap user (loud breathing)

Post by cpapUser321 » Sun Apr 02, 2023 1:49 pm

Hi,

I use a ResMed AirSense 10 AutoSet because i snore. (which can be an issue living in an apartment building)

I recorded myself using the Resmed and found that instead of snoring, it still makes a very loud breathing sound. Is this normal or is the cpap machine supposed to 'normalize' all breathing ? (what i mean is without cpap machine it is normal sound ->normal sound -> loud snore -> normal sound , but with cpap it is normal sound ->normal sound -> loud breathing -> normal sound).

Would this be a pressure issue or is this completely normal? The loud breaths instead of the snoring are pretty loud and kinda defeats the purpose the masking the snoring.

Thank you

The machine should be very silent.

And you get most of it. 8)
Your neighbors should not notice--unless the walls are paper-thin.
If that is the case, you have no privacy at all.
You might consider moving.

What does it sound like when you are asleep?

Oh, wait, you don't know. You're asleep.

Record yourself.

The OP says he did record himself.

The machine itself should be essentially silent, as LSAT says. What you may be hearing are leaks from your mask or your mouth, a noisy vent, or the passage of air through the hose. Do you have some way to narrow down the source of the noise?

One clue that might help people here would be whether you can reproduce the noise while you're awake.

Hi,

the machine isn't loud. without cpap machine, the snoring is like a grunting sound, but with the cpap machine it just becomes a very loud breath (much much louder than normal breathing). machine sound is normal, mask is normal.

Some masks are louder that others.
In some Resmed AS10 Auto machines a blower breakdown causes them to become noisy when you breathe in and breathe out. If that's what your machine is doing, and hat's why you decided to record yourself - have it fixed. My machine was under warranty and in my country the blower was replaced, free of charge, by ResMed.
