Wheels Have Fallen Off?

Post by gebo » Sun Apr 02, 2023 5:14 am

I have been doing good. Everything has been fine. Got my mouth taped off and running smoothly. But all of a sudden, out of the blue, I almost run out of water overnight and the inside of my mouth has turned to leather after 4 hours. Nose is stopped up. My machine has been set to auto on humidity and climate control. I was running 7-10 but my max has moved from 8 to 9 to 10 to 11. My leak was around 11 and has gone as high as 35. I have changed masks. Last night I used a full container of water and high pressure was 11 and leak was 35.

I have been using about 40% of my water overnight. .9 AHI and and empty tank this morning.

I have switched masks but with the same results. Is the leak the reason my water tank is running out? I'm thinking it is. Is the leak the cause for me running more pressure?

Could be local ambient humidity messing everything up - certainly 'too much' can congest you, but knowing little about your local conditions from here isn't much good. Do you have a hygrometer to check hum. in your room/home? I know weather in the mid US has been nuts lately. I'd be surprised if the leak alone caused such a change.

Mouth breathing can cause increase in water use....and dry mouth. It will also show up as large leak. Try taping tour mouth for a few nights.

Yes. That and the higher pressure
I'm thinking it is. Is the leak the cause for me running more pressure?
Time to show a picutre of the cart, with and without wheels.
In other words: time for you OSCAR charts.

In my experience, even a small leak in in the tape can dry mouth and throat and make me generally miserable. But let's not go about guessing.
And while you're adding necesaary info, what was that "mask change". Old to new? Different type of mask?

I have been taping my mouth for the past month and it stays perfectly sealed. Sometimes my cheeks puff out like toad frog. No leaks through my mouth. Positive.

I’m wondering if my heated hose is bad???? I used dawn and 135 degree water to clean it. Did I screw up?

I’m using the mask in my sig. By far the best sealer I have used. I only switched from nasal to pillow trying to see if I could minimize the leaks. No such luck.

What’s weird is it started abruptly and hasn’t stopped or subsided even changing nose pieces.

If I can figure out how to download my data, I’ll give it a try.

I promise this is not the issue. My mouth is totally taped and sealed. It sometimes blows up like a toad frog with n no leak whatsoever. I’m using the tape Lanky Lefty suggested and it is awesome! Little rough getting off but guaranteed seal.

I’m gonna unplug my machine. Maybe something got wacky. Reminder, this happened all at once after me having great success for the past month. I was maxing out at 7-8 psi.

I’m thinking it happened after I washed out my slimline hose.

Well, I unplugged and reset my Resmed 10. Went with same mask I had been using and I am back to "normal". Leak at 7 and max pressure at 9.6. I am crossing my fingers and will see how tonight goes. Sometimes I shut down my computer and internet and then restart.
It seems to help. Maybe I just needed a reboot??

Maybe......and/or maybe whatever was contributing to the excess leak numbers just didn't happen last night.

One night does not a trend make.

Pugsy, I agree but I have been consistently "awful" for the last 8 days. It really irritates me when I can think of nothing I changed. Oh, the water level only dropped about 40% last night as well.

Time will tell.

Like I said...it's a maybe.
There are always multiple variables that could impact results for just about anything.
That's why one night does not a trend make.

The biggest variable is the squidgy meatbag strapped to the end of the hose.

YOU change, even if there's not things you think of.

Well, for an update. I really have no idea what happened but everything is fine now. The 2 things I did was change masks to the Swift Pillows and I purchased a new climate air ResMed hose.

Upon examination of my hose, there were tiny holes near the connectors on both ends. You could only really see them upon very close examination. And full disclosure, I had never replaced the hose. Yikes!

I really believe my holey hose played a big part in the leakage. Just depending on how I tossed and turned and how the hose got stretched.
