Sleep study results

Post by x_Sinbad_x » Tue Mar 07, 2023 9:38 pm

Hello,

I have done a home study results few times ago regarding a daytime sleepiness and fatigue, waking up with a dry mouth/throat and a general sensation of 'never feeling rested" ever since i was 17. Also checked blood panel (including hormones, vitamin any kind of deficiency) and nasal obstruction at ents (scan and allergy), here are the results:

  • 5h recorded

    Apneas : 5
    AHI : 1
    Average length : 13 sec
    Longest length : 19 sec
    OSA Number : 4
    CSA Number : 1

Hypopnea 1 total, micro awakening 2 per hour

    Snoring 53, 15 per hour
    Events 3
    Total events length 2 minute
    Strength 81 dB

    Sp02 awakening : 99%
    Sp02 average : 97%
    Sp02 lowest : 95%

The results are quite negative as you can see, but the weird thing was that i slept even worse than usual and woke up slightly more, yet i still have such a low ahi? I don't know about nasal obstruction thought because they didn't put a oronasal sensor, only o2 oxi and chest one

Would it be worth doing a full lab study to check what is disturbing my sleep? I feel like i'm going mad, randomly sleeping, 4h to 8h, always same symptoms (it feels like i'm always deprived of sleep, nothing else tbh)

Only thing i noticed was that once laid down, my nose start getting really "dry" no matter the humidity/temp, and not only at night but anytime. but if i'm awake up i don't have any blockage or runny nose, never mouthbreathed in the day in my life :?:

Thanks for reading :D

A couple of questions:

Do you have any reason to think you move your legs a lot during the night? This could indicate restless leg syndrome or periodic limb movements, both of which could cause unrestful sleep.

I see a fair amount of snoring in your sleep report. Can you breathe through your nose during the day? If yes, would you be willing to try taping your mouth during the night? This would resolve the dry mouth problem, and if you are waking yourself up, even a tiny bit, by snoring, tape could help you feel more rested. You could try Somnifix strips to start; if they are OK with you, you could find cheaper alternatives.

Did the sleep report include information about how much time you spent in each of the sleep stages, including deep and REM sleep?

Have you been tested for some less common potential problems? These might include Lyme disease and autoimmune disease, as well as testosterone levels if you are a man. (I assume your panel included tests for anemia and thyroid problems.)

I wouldn't say apnea is a 5 is quite negative pretty much the opposite we want to be five or below. Mine was closer to 40 and I've seen some people close to 100

I think the OP meant the results are negative in the sense that they show his problem is not sleep apnea.
