Mystery solved..maybe..about mask-ripping-off

Post by LDuyer » Mon Mar 14, 2005 6:10 pm

This is a vent. .....
Recently I've been finding my nose mask off of my face in the middle of the night.

In the beginning, I thought I solved this by ramping whenver I awoke in the night dealing with the high prescribed pressure. That was months ago. The ramping wasn't the best solution, but the only one I could do, at least until I get used to this or get a better mask. But lately ....... this new wrinkle. My mask seems to find its way to the floor once again.

Last night I awoke. This time, I noticed my arm was outstretched and at the end of it, in the palm of my hand, was my mask..!!! I stared at that phenomenon for the longest time. Then I remembered....I remembered that while waking up sometimes I would take the mask off. I would ramp, with or without the mask on. But now I'm guessing, whenever I wake up in the night, I'm taking the mask off, ... only now, instead of ramping......I intend to ramp, but end up just falling back to sleep first....with my mask falling any which way it can, from my grasp.

I like the comfort of the nose mask. What am I going to do? Am I gonna have to super glue the thing to my face? Tighten the straps until my eyes pop out of my head? Rig a light to go off brightly whenever I take the mask off? ..... Sheesh!
....sorry, venting....

Linda,
Some machines have alarms that go off when the mask is off for more than a couple of minutes. See if your machine has an alarm you can set. That might wake you enough to put the mask back on and set the ramp.
