I had to go back to the straight strap, which is available from aftermarket sources.

I tried medicated skin creme but it feels like moisture in my nose.
(It wold have benefit of reducing rawness which sometimes happens due to overtightening.

Much fiddling with cushion is needed, tipping it up a bit helps.

The Question is what interface design suits an individual's face.

I have tried many.

The best for me is Respironics nostrils cushion, latest incarnation is in its Dreamwear design which has air passage tube forming the headgear, one leg down each side of face.
The Resmed P30i Nasal pillows mask along with the Resmed N30i Nasal cushion mask both have designs similar to the Dreamweaver in the sense that they have the hose attachment at the top of the head, and air passage tubes form the sides of the headgear. The pillows version doesn't have an XL, but it may be the case that the Resmed Large might fit you better than the PR Large does.

The N30i Nasal cushion mask comes with a (small) cushion that rests against the bottom of the nose while leaving most of the top of the nose uncovered. The nasal cushion comes in various sizes, but because it doesn't have to nestle against each nostril individually, it may be that the Large in this mask might work better for you than either the P30i Nasal pillows or the Dreamwear that you are currently using.

robysue1:

Your notion of the Phillips/Respironics cushion is wrong.

It is a single piece with wide air slot, no divider.

Its limitation for many people is that the smaller of its two dimensions is not large enough for long nostrils.

(It comes in a wider version - MW - for about 10% of the US population, but should also come in a taller version I'd call XL.)
