First time OSCAR user with bizarre results for AirSense 11 . Any ideas?

Post by jerbee » Thu Feb 16, 2023 6:55 am

I’m a totally new user here who came across this board when searching for OSCAR tutorials. I posted on the Reddit r/CPAP board yesterday with questions about the resmed app results, and from the feedback I got, I adjusted the fit of my mask and downloaded OSCAR. I looked at the results today only to find it has my worst AHI ever for the night and says I only used it for 2:42 (despite using the machine from 11pm-6am). It also doesn’t show respiratory rate. Any ideas what I may be doing wrong? [AirSense 11]

Also, thanks for your help.

Edit: someone on Reddit mentioned the lack of details may be a result from the same SD card not being left in overnight. I did use a SD card last night for the first time, but it was unreadable this morning… So I loaded a fresh SD card into the machine a few hours ago then plugged it into the computer to see if it worked… when it showed me these details, I thought it did… I guess I just need to give it another night with the working card in there to get more information.

My results for last night certainly better than the 20+ mask on/off and 5/20 mask seal from the night before (see attached photos), but now my AHI and average events per hour is ridiculously through the roof. Also, I noticed it seems to be dropping my therapy hours for no reason at all - the number of nights I *haven’t* used it for at least 7 hours is very low (usually when I’m traveling on a plane), but the software thinks otherwise.

For example, I am absolutely positive I got seven hours last night, but it says I only got 2:42 (although my sleep last night was not great, and I didn’t actually fall asleep for quite a while… but the machine was definitely on from 11p-6a). There are tons of other very low-usage days that I am positive are incorrect. I assumed fixing the mask fit would resolve those issues, but nope! They seem to be worse. Other than just trying again tonight, I don’t know what else to do.

I was also hoping to see the respiratory rate, but other than the information you can see in that photo, all of the other charts are blank. I tried to import the data to SleepHQ just now, but it looks like importing it to OSCAR cleared the datalog folder from the SD card. Oops?

Side note: the reason my therapy time is flip-flipped for 3 months is because I went diving in the Philippines, where there’s a 14h time change. Also, when I was over there, the local woman I was dating complained about my snoring, so I realized that after 5 years of therapy, 10 titration must not be enough, so I changed it to 12 mid-trip. She said that did away with the snoring.

The SD card needs to be in while you're using the machine to record the details you want. You'll just get summary data without it.
