Quiet CPAP

Anyone have any advice regarding a "Quiet" CPAP machine? I am currently at 12 cm, and both my wife and I have noticed that the machine is VERY loud. That may just be due to the higher pressure, but my wife is being kept awake at night (I sleep, unless I get a bit of rainout - another story).

My current equipment is shown in my sig.

I think the m-series is a very quite machine but that differs from others thoughts. I can't barely hear my running at night, depending on the pressure. My husband woke me up the other night because he didn't hear the machine going and it was.

One thing that happened with me is I did not get the clips tight on my activa mask when I put it back together one time and then I noticed a lot of noise. Is this new noise or has is been like that?

It shouldn't be "loud". When I turn mine on (say during the day), I can hear the air coming out of the machine. But once I put my hand over the hose end, I can't hear the machine.

Are you sure the machine is seated firmly on the humidifier plate?

Are you sure the round rubber fitting is between the machine air output and the humidifier tank?

Are you sure it's the machine and not the mask?

If you are using c-flex, you might be hearing that. Try turning it off and see if the machine is quieter.

Using a fan or white-noise will help muffle the machine sound.

Take it back to the DME to make sure it's working correctly. Maybe the fan is loose or something.

And lastly, put the machine down near the floor on your side of the bed. Or put a cardboard box over it at night.

I have the remstar plus also, set at 11, and it is very quiet, my husband used to say that I could "hear grass grow".
