I have eczema and psoriasis. Altough improved since starting xpap it isn't gone. My problem is that the masks cause breakouts of it on my face. I'm now using the CL2 most of the time so that the only patches I get are on the nares.

I have eczema and sleep apnea, so far it has not cleared that up. It has gotten better recently but that was because I had to do a round of steroids to get over a bad case of bronchitus. Now if it doesn't return badly I will let you know!

I used to have severe eczema to the point where my hands and knuckles would bleed. Within days of starting CPAP my eczema completely dissapeared. More should be studied about the subject.

Eczema at the point of contact?

Post by D.H. » Thu Dec 22, 2016 10:55 am

Nobody addressed the issue of Eczema at the place of mask contact. This could be an issue interfering with CPAP use even if not related. I would suggest that being able to wear the mask is so important, you should ask your physician for the strongest medicine to put on the point of contact if that's an issue.

The point is, that's a potential issue whether or not it was mentioned.

This is Pugsy real name

I don't think that Psoriasis comes from skin irritation. I had it when I was in my teens. It has gone for ever. But, I still use Denorex Shampoo, the one with the max allowed TAR. What is CL2?

I got athlete's foot from stubbing my toe on my cpap machine, and knocking it off the night stand, I cleared it up by kicking the floor lamp. Jim

Clobetasol eliminates mine for months at a time.
It is too strong to use on the face, though.

I have psoriasis, and have been recently diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis. Shampoos, creams, etc can help the psoriasis symptoms, but at it's core it's an autoimmune disorder. So far the only connection I've seen between it and apnea is fatigue, both from the arthritis itself and from some of the meds. More medical stuff to research when I could be reading fun stuff...

Auto-immune; I can see that, especially because steroids often help.
