Enlighten us, what do we have "wrong", aside from the fact that we're pointing out that you have no knowledge or experience (as evidenced by your not understanding even the simplest aspect of the flow/pressure/restriction relationships, and thus no idea what you're talking about.

OK another way to look at this. All hospital ventilators have a flow rate adjustment. This adjustment can be anywhere from 60-120 L.min. Based on calculation of time constant of the expiratory flow. Can you imagine a ventilator without that adjustment? How would you adequately ventilate and 110 pound woman vs a 250 pound man.


Yes of course there is a relation between pressure and flow. But if the flow is reduced to a comfortable level does not mean you can't achieve therapy pressure, within reason.

It's not, and obviously you aren't familiar enough with the roles and differences of CPAP and ventilation to engage in this discussion.

I think the V-COM could be a benefit to you, your current therapy has made you grumpy.

Using that flawed logic, the SleepRes V-Com is worthless and dangerous because there is no way to adjust it for small women and for large men.

But back to reality.

CPAP is about maintaining pressure to improve sleep by keeping the airway stable. It does so by using pressure during expiration to prevent apneas and by using pressure during inspiration to prevent hypopneas, RERAs, and snores.*

* Assuming, of course, that someone doesn’t unwisely disable the efficacy of his or her own machine by adding in unnecessary plastic junk into the flow circuit at the behest of some misguided profiteer who is attempting clumsily to re-engineer the way CPAP blowers were designed to work by the manufacturers for improving sleep.**

Flow restrictors are put into "green" plumbing fixtures
because it "SAVES WATER."
It makes for a frustrating shower, and soapy dishes.
--but it is good for the planet--unless you just run the water LONGER.
For obvious reasons, air is not something I want LESS of.

Got my V-Com yesterday and tried it out last night. For some reason with the V-Com in place my Resmed AirFit F30 QuietAir elbow is making very loud air noises on inhaling and when I remove the V-Com the air noises go away and back to normal.

I'm using the Resmed AirSense 10 AutoSet, CPAP mode, 12.2 pressure, EPR 2, AirFit F30 mask (I'm a mouth breather).

I tried a different new QuietAir elbow with same results of loud air noises on the inhale with V-Com installed. Very quiet without the V-Com installed. I tried turning EPR off and still same loud air noises.

I thought this V-Com made the system more quiet? Is there anyone having the same issue with making more noises?

I'm not using is anymore.

Add another sucker to this list ; I tried it for 2 nights. FAIL. I wished I could return this hunk of plastic.

I suggest you *both* DEMAND a refund.

You've lined the charlatans bank account, get your money back.

I hope you used a credit card, refuse the charge, because you got a defective (by design) product.
