N30 questions
N30 questions
Does anyone know if I can use the same frame for my small cushion to use with a medium cushion? Or is it a whole new frame?
I considered going up a size to see if that makes a difference (if I can find one cheap on ebay). But not if it requires a whole new frame.
Does anyone know?
Maybe I will try calling Resmed sometime this week but its a bit busy and figured I might ask here first.
Thanks for any insights.

Re: N30 questions
Thanks.
Just fiddling to try to maximize therapy.
At times I feel like I have difficulty getting air in thru the mask. May be time to replace them and considered going up a size, but am not sure. When I use their measuring system I am on the large end of small but do not know how critical all that is.
Last night I cut back the EPR by 1 and raised the minimum pressure 1. The numbers haven't been too bad but I am unsure if cpap is the cause of my headaches or a myriad of other possibilities. Thus my fussing and making changes.
I don't feel too bad today but wonder about the headaches. I have spoken with all the relevant doctors but I have confounding/conflicting possiblities as to the cause and fixing pap seems the most straightforward. Some of my diagnoses are unfixable at this time but pap is one thing I can change. I probably need to drink about a gallon more water a day too.
One thing I noticed last night was that my mouth was open a few times. I put tape on my mouth in the middle of the morning but woke several times to find it leaking out of the corner. It may be possible that it is due to the increased pressure and in that case I will likely bump it back down and turn the EPR back up.
When I look at last night's chart I zoom in on all the events and from what I can see there may be a larger inhale before all but the last event of seven shown here. If anyone with the gift is willing to take a look at it and comment, I welcome the input as well.

Re: N30 questions/soft response and EPR
thanks to you and LSAT for answering my questions.
Dogslobber, I particularly wanted you to know: On another posters thread you suggested looking at your Oscar stats for settings and see how long you stuck with something before making change.
This exercise was incredibly enlightening. I was working on trying to cut back on swallowed gas and turned one setting to "soft" response iirc back in October. My FL went way up. I recall being miserable despite the low AHI. My mouth was popping open despite tape. I recall my partner saying it sounded like driving with the car window open.
TURNS OUT the "soft" response was EPR off. I was surprised to see I spent like 9-10 days with no EPR. (one day of missing data) I didn't realize that was a part of it until just now looking per your advice. So thanks for that.
I don't know if any of you knew what the "soft" response actually did (it may have been Rubicon who initially suggested it, I can't recall), it seems as though it turns the EPR off completely.
Hope that helps someone.

Re: N30 questions
Soft response doesn’t turn EPR off does it? I don’t think jt does, it only makes the pressure changes smoothly not right away.

Re: N30 questions/soft response and EPR
I think that the Statistics / Changes to Device Settings is one of the most valuable tools in OSCAR.
I think it's unfortunate that more Device settings don't trigger a new line entry.
You can also use it to track non-machine changes. For example, let's say I'm starting a new medication tomorrow:
I will change my Max Pressure from 25.0 to 24.8. This will not impact my therapy at all, but a new history line item will be created. Now I can easily compare my pre-medication AHI stats, to my post-medication AHI stats. OSCAR does the math.
Do this when:
Changing masks, changing Soft/Standard, changing medications, etc.....

Good idea. You are making me want to go back to look and see when I started a particular med to see if that made any difference.Dog Slobber wrote: ↑Mon Dec 19, 2022 5:32 pmI think that the Statistics / Changes to Device Settings is one of the most valuable tools in OSCAR.

I think I will go back to my tried and true basically well managed EPR of 3 and regular settings. I had some fluctuations and trials over the last few months (like a wicked cold despite wearing masks everywhere) and hopefully things calm down. The headaches may be TMJ related and I discovered last night that taping the mouth does not allow me the movement to try to do certain pressure points that move the jaw back into place. So, fingers crossed.

Re: N30 questions
So, ever since my EPR test I decided to go back and settle into my old settings or thereabouts. Despite the suggestion to leave settings alone for a period of time, I decided to boost my minimum up a bit because the trend was for the median pressure to be a bit higher than I had it set (7.2 -> 7.4).
Been better for the last few nights of doing this. Last night was spectacular and I had a 9/10 nights sleep with a good day today. https://sleephq.com/public/168c1e8f-951 ... 710797f1cf
I wonder though if one of you who can read these charts, can you tell me please, what the heck happened? I remember waking with air leaking out of the left side where cushion meets mask. I tried to cover it with my finger to get it to press down for tighter seal. I got up and took the cushion off then re-fastened it with the left side hooked in first. That seemed to stop the slight leak.
There's only one interruption all night and I believe the machine marked that when I rolled over in bed (vague memory of doing so and glancing at my watch around that time). Can't complain about that esp because I feel pretty good. But I have NEVER had the pressure go to the max in all my pap time. I can't make sense of the FL and leak lines in a way I can wrap my head around it. Maybe that last five minutes or so where I lie awake trying to cover the air hole was the reason for it? I really don't know because I am pretty sure it shows all SWJ.
I would love to understand what was going on there that made the min pressure go to max for the first time ever.
Thanks to anyone willing to provide some insights.
Edit: additional questions- is it possible that if the covers accidentally occlude the exhale openings on the mask that the FL could go up and then the pressure rises accordingly? It was pretty cold last night and I wonder if I maybe pulled the covers up a bit too high and obstructed the holes? And then when pressure maxed out at 14 it blew open the seal where the cushion attaches to the mask frame? (One possible scenario?)
