If Sleephq can be the handy-dandy first choice for newbies, so be it;
but it needs to be accessible to as many as possible.
SleepHQ is accessible to anybody with a web browser, including on phones and tablets. In this respect it is superior to Oscar. On the other hand it is currently limited to Resmed and Philips machines (but not the DS2). In this respect it is inferior to Oscar.
Nicko has said from Day 1 that SleepHQ will be monetised but the current bare bones version will always be available for free. The paid version is launching next Friday and looks like it will have lots of good stuff, but no indication yet of the cost. Apart from possibly adding new machines and fixing some known bugs I don't expect to see too much more development on the free version.

You shouldn't have to
pay for bug fixes.
If Nicko's idea of monetizing SleepHQ is to leave bugs in the barebones, free version, it seems to me that folks trying the buggy free version will be less likely to pay $ for a subscription to a program they already think is buggy.

I didn't say he was leaving bugs in the program. I said further development of the free version is likely to be limited to fixing bugs and adding machines.
AFAIAA the only significant bug is the mask pressure. I'm having a separate quiet conversation with Adam (the actual developer) concerning this. If you are aware of other bugs please let me know, and I'll pass them on.

Thank you for doing that and for making that kind, helpful offer, Respirator99.

When bugs are solved, the solutions need to be applied to all versions.
Otherwise, it could be viewed as dirty pool.
Improvements can be reserved for the paid product.
Access to Android devices will continue to be an advantage over Oscar.

. . . bugs . . . dirty pool.
Hopefully, based on Respirator99's words, frogs will soon not need to worry about any dirty pools of Australian bugs.
If I were in the bidness, tho, I'd sure offer Pugsy full beta privileges and lifetime free use of the paid version.
Hey, just me.

I don't really like Beta testing any software. Takes a lot of work checking stuff out and looking for problems and I am just not into that much work. Remember I am doing good to look at my data once a month. I just don't have the time or energy right now to take on extra work either physical or mental.
I didn't do any beta testing of OSCAR or even SleepyHead. Just not my thing.
So thanks but if it was offered I would say no thanks anyway.
I may have to RISE but I refuse to SHINE.

Makes sense.
Wouldn't want you actually to have to test. I'd just make all versions and priveleges available to the hardest-working patient-data-analyzer around, no strings attached.
And I would offer it out of pure business-selfishness, not as a favor to you or overt attempt to influence you.
But I would respect your saying no, too, of course.

How does someone with only a phone get the data uploaded?
Get OSCAR
Accounts to put on the foe list: dataq1, clownbell, gearchange, lynninnj, mper!?, DreamDiver, Geer1, almostadoctor, sleepgeek, ajack, stom, mogy, D.H., They often post misleading, timewasting stuff.

I
tried to get you involved in SleepyHead development, that's what got me kicked off the project...

As long as their device supports OTG mode, not all do.
