Bleep vent diffuser/filter media

Post by Miss Emerita » Sat Nov 05, 2022 1:44 pm

I went to order some new vent diffuser/filters for my Bleep mask, and they seem to be completely unavailable. Does anyone know where I can get some? Or are they now out of production? If that's the situation, what kind of filter medium would be best to cut up for use in the little black bikini dealie?

I have always just used a ResMed machine air filter. The plain standard air filter delayered and cut up.

Thanks Pugsy. How many layers do you break the ResMed filter into?

Same. I don't even bother to delayer. I cut a hole in the center, stick the entire filter on the interface, then trim around to shape it. Then I add the "bikini".

I have done both....delayer in half is all or I have just trimmed the whole thing to fit the bikini.
Back before the bikini we were using the full filter tied up over the vent holes. It's not a critical issue.
You don't need much filter material to diffuse the air stream though.

This was my first take at a diffuser when I was testing the initial bleep, before the advent of the official 'bikini'...

It was, I popped the hose off, marked a circle the size of the hose connector and cut a X in the material, pushed it over the base of the mask frame, then popped the hose back on to hold it. It didn't need anything else to hold it in place, and it silenced the vents nicely.

Any idea what makes the original filter pieces turn black so quickly where the holes are?
Does that also happen when you use the CPAP filter?

The stuff coming out of your lungs, and stuff that wasn't caught by the CPAP filters.
If you put a AB filter in the hose, it'll turn black over time, because of the stuff that gets through the cpap filters.

It sure does. And it happens with other masks that diffuse the airflow.
