Puritan Bennett 420G CPAP Machine?

Just in case someone has a Puritan Bennett 420G CPAP Machine in good working order, I'd like to get a back up? Found one here last month by chance and would like to find another for back up if this one quits.

You do realize that machine is not an APAP and is not supported by OSCAR???

Be careful with any Puritan Bennett 420G CPAP machines as they are susceptible to foam degradation in similar fashion to the recalled Dreamstation machines. My second 420G, purchased back around 2007 developed a really bad odor roughly two years ago. It had just under 10,000 hours and was only used occasionally as a camping machine due to its 12 volt power requirement. When I took it apart all of the foam had turned into mush that disintegrated in my hands. Glad it only averaged 2-6 days of annual use during its last 5 years. Unfortunate as I owned two of these (first in 2003) and got a lot of great use from them.

For non-camping travel I use one of the Apex basic CPAP machines (similar to ZZZPap). Smaller footprint than the GoodKnight 420G. They were only a couple hundred dollars when I purchased it in 2018 so while now discontinued you may be able to find a used one at a reasonable price if 12 volt power (they only work on household current) isn't necessary. If 12 volts is needed a basic Devilbiss CPAP could be an option (also discontinued). Have one purchased in 2019 that I've been using since my Dreamstations were recalled. Has a nice fail over feature where a 12volt supply can be hooked up separately from the household current to automatically take over in case of a power failure. Without the humidifier it's not much bigger than the GoodKnight. These were $275 (without humidifier) new so a used one could also be reasonably priced.

Thanks for the warning. My original aging Puritan Bennett GoodNight CPAP Machine 420G developed that odor a year or so ago and I couldn't` figure out if was simply my imagination! Fortunately , it was used infrequently for Travel alone. Looks like finding a new APEX CPAP for travel purposes would be a better idea.Found a New one at a CPAP Dealer site for $250 since it is a discontinued model.
