Resmed cpap machine refurbishing?

My Resmed Airsense 10 is 5 years old, and still works fine, but I'm thinking of what I'll do if it conks out, and have a plan in place. They're made so well, that I think it just might have a few years left in it. I really wouldn't want to go to a non-cellular capeable machine, or pay very high prices because demand is vastly outstripping supply due to the Philips recall, and the computer chip shortage.

Does anyone know if Resmed themselves, or authorized 3rd parties, refurbish used machines? This seems like a great idea, given the shortage going on. If there is nothing of the sort, it seems that Resmed should be on this.

Standard advice is to keep a backup machine (and masks, hoses, filters). A week without CPAP might destroy many of us.

Are you aware of Secondwindcpap.com who refurb and resell machines (all types) and will also buy your used ones? They're great to deal with and you might want to look at their site or talk to them in general.

Nobody is intetested in refurbrushing a 5 year old machine.

But he may find a 'new' one he likes or can afford.

Agreed. Refurbing a 5-year old machine would be an exercise in futility;
but a look at the out of box and gently used offerings at second wind might be fruitful.

What does him potentially finding a new one have to do with older machines not being good candidates for refurbishing?

His machine is 5 years old, he needs to consider replacing it, he should keep his existing machine as a backup.

The don't buy all machines for one thing. There are limits as to the number of hours a used machine can have and also just because a machine might have lower hours doesn't mean that they will buy it. It all depends on their current inventory on hand. If they already have a sizable inventory in such and such model...they won't be wanting more. I personally had that happen some years ago when I had a Respironics System One BiPap with around 500 hours on it. I was told "they weren't buying that model at this time".

As to "refurbishing"....I don't think that they actually repair any cpap/apap/whatever pap machines which is usually what we think about when we talk "refurbish". Unless things have changed, all they do to "refurbish" a used machine so that they can sell it is simply routine cleaning and checking with manometer that pressures are accurate. They aren't in the business to repair/refurbish machines that they don't plan to sell. It is my understanding that they just won't purchase a machine that isn't in good working order and they sure won't buy a high hour machine at all. There is a stated 2K limit to the hours as machine can have.

They don't fix broken machines...and they don't go through a machine to check for problems for the general public.
That's for actual cpap repair facilities like acbio.com.
Secondwind doesn't go checking software or sensors or stuff like that.
