Back when I started therapy and had the elimination of 2 main symptoms of OSA (headache and nocturia) I wasn't seeing the burst of energy by any means so I wasn't 100% a happy camper with things because I had also had unrealistic expectations back then.
heh. i didn't know nuffin about sleep apnea when i started. i went to the doc because i was getting up to 4x per night, not knowing that nocturia was part of sleep apnea or even WHAT sleep apnea was! after asking a few questions he said "i think you may have sleep apnea.". all my brain heard was "there's a name for this!!". and then all the things that followed from that.
i just thought i slept that because i slept that way. i knew other people slept better but i didn't know i could DO something about it. and at no time did i think of what sleep apnea was doing to my health. all of that came much later, after i'd logged in here and read up on the subject.
sure enough, those trips to the bathroom reduced to once per night. headaches that i didn't know were part of apnea went away too.
I always wondered where people's common sense logic was when they bailed on cpap because "it didn't work"..
i've always felt women were more in touch with their bodies than men are. i know that a lot of men don't even want to admit there is anything "wrong" with them. i'm not that far gone. i recognize pain and will certainly see a doctor for that. same with any heart condition or things of that nature. but a lot of guys just will not accept having anything that they feel makes them less than the strong silent type.
Normally the reason most people bailed because "it didn't work" was because they had unrealistic expectations in the first place.
this is why i said this link should be tucked away. just like the links to oscar and how to organize and post charts. the link can be whipped out when someone starts saying that they don't really need cpap therapy "just for snoring" or some other excuse. just a little something to show them.
