I'm amazed at how many people THINK they need to run their autoPAPs in ranges of pressures.......when a single/fixed pressure just might be the solution to good therapy and sleep.
If you haven't tried it, maybe you should. it MIGHT be the answer you're lookng for.

Re: Initial AutoPAP Range for Beginner
All sleep aids are really supposed to be short term unless discussed and cleared with a doctor.
I hadn't thought about the habit forming thing but I suppose just about anything can be habit forming.
Which is worse???? "Maybe" the habit forming part or the "for sure" not getting sleep part?
I will risk a "maybe" any day of the week over a "for sure".
Remember I can't take melatonin at all....some people do just fine with it but I think it is also advised for short term use...and people do build up a tolerance for it. It's possible to build up a tolerance for benadryl as well.

i just don't want to end up depending on anything to stay asleep. i know melatonin doesn't work for you. but it does get me to sleep, it just doesn't last much more than say 6 hours.
i think i'll just keep benadeyl to hand for those nights where it looks like i'm going to need it.

Re: Initial AutoPAP Range for Beginner
Just wanted to give an update. Adjusting to CPAP has been a struggle. I seem to have good success at a pressure level of 10. However, the full face masks (and I've tried several) just don't work for me. It's too hard to keep a seal and they literally hurt my face.
I've been using the Phillips DreamWear nasal mask with pretty good success. I use a double-sided boil-and-bite mouthguard to keep my mouth closed and it mostly works. I've been waking up lately with a really dry mouth so I think I'm getting leaks. Next step is looking at taping I guess.
Anyway, my journey is probably a common one. But I'm still plugging away!
