So, it is probably useful to know for sure the details on how Wellu calculates pulse rates and the interval used for each data point. ( my suspicion is 4 seconds - but that actually seems like overkill)
Is the following helpful, by any chance?
<< Measurement interval: 1 second (in-app intervals 4secs) >>
Yes, I saw that in the O2 ring Tech Specifications (at their website).
The only problem is that in the one second measurement interval there will be only 1 detected pulse when the actual pulse is 60 or less. In order to calculate a pulse rate --- you need at least two detected pulses and the interval between the two pulses. (see below)

P.S. Also, this guy on YouTube seems quite smart and talks about HRV in relation to sleep and the Oura Ring: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AK47cav1i28
But I agree we don't have to talk more about Heart Rate Variability in this thread if it's too off-topic.
(Oh, I also wanted to add that when I'm stressed, my HRV during sleep is always dramatically lower than when I'm not stressed.)

HRV is precisely on-topic if it's used in the right context.

But you guys are talking about rMSSD which is not appropriate in re: OP's concerns. They need to specifically look at LF which requires a 1-2 minute window.

That said, if the OP is not in NSR (and the AF point is highly relevant) then all talk about HRV is out the window.
Freeze this moment a little bit longer.

Cause you get the AF doing something like this and HRV is meaningless:

I think that pulse rate variability and HRV are indeed "on topic" and I see no need for a separate thread just to rehash what has already been brought forward here.

I feel it will just result in duplication of posts and questions with same results.

By "AF" are you referring to AFib ?
Would the HRV also be meaningless in PVCs and other ectopic arrhythmias?

Regarding the sampling rate and the reporting intervals for the Wellue O2ring.
For what it is worth: I wrote to the company's tech service department and here is what their answer was:
The Sampling rate is 150HZ. The interface is refreshed in real time, also 4s point records the last data (that is the 600th single data, not the average data)
For the sake of completeness, this is what I asked:
For the O2 saturation reading, how many individual measurements have been taken of SpO2 before a measurement is reported? If more than one measurement is used, are the individual measurements averaged?

On pulse rate, the natural assumption is that the O2 ring detects and counts the pulses over a 4 second interval and calculates a pulse rate from that. Is that assumption correct?

Finally, regarding pulse rate and O2 display/report only, is the data reported completely independent from prior 4 second display/reports for each parameter?
