Evidently NO WIFI

Post by golfgame » Mon Apr 18, 2022 4:08 am

Evidently over the last few days my ResMed Aircurve10 VAUTO unit has lost its WIFI. I am seeing a yellow circle with a line thru it on the screen. Am I wrong in thinking that too mean that it is not receiving or sending data out? The Remed daily report has shown no use for several days when in fact it has been used.

Your machine communicates by phone, not wifi. Older generations of cellular phone systems (eg 3G) have been phased out by the operator, so there is no longer any way for it to communicate.

By the way - use the search engine. There have been numerous threads on this topic over the past few weeks.
* Download Oscar
* Oscar help
* An alternative to Oscar - try SleepHQ

I have no medical training or qualifications. Take my advice for what it's worth.

All your data is recorded on the machine's SD Card. You can see all your data on the screen's Sleep Report. If you are not seeing the data, it is not turned on in the settings area. Go into settings...find ESSENTIALS and change it to PLUS,'

I have the same machine and it's connecting to the cellular network just fine, I just now checked it. Did you change any settings?

You may have an AirCurve 10 VAuto, but they are not identical. The Air 10 line has had three different modems (CDMA, 3G, 4G), as well as numerous firmware versions. You are also (likely) not in the same cell region.

The cell carriers are shutting down older cell services and these topics are popping up all over many CPAP forums.

And if you've been relying on wifi data, you may not have an SD card in your CPAP machine. A card was shipped with your machine but may have been removed by the DME. You can buy an inexpensive data card for going forward. If you need to prove compliance for insurance purposes, you can let your doctor or DME get the data from the card.

I contacted ResMed and they confirmed that the machine was not sending or receiving data via the cell tower. They said I had to go thru my supplier and the supplier would then contact ResMed for the fix. Kinda stupid I'd say.

There is no fix, at least not with your current machine.

Your machine uses cell technology that is no longer supported by the cell carrier.

If you want to keep using your existing machine you won't have data upload capability. If you want data upload capability, get a new machine.

Correct.
Your machine still will write data to the SD card and it still will store the limited data in the machine's internal memory that it always stored.
The only thing that it can't do now is send the data to the cloud via the cellular transmission.

You can still see your sleep report data on the LCD screen if you wish. The sleep report is pretty much what MyAir showed anyway minus the "scores". Do you know about how to get the sleep report? I glance at mine each morning when I turn the machine off. Shows all I need for the short term....AHI and hours used and leak. If I want details I use the SD card and OSCAR software.

The only thing that has changed is the machine's ability to use the cellular network it came with.

Since the machines are no longer forwarding the daily data to whomever, if you know how will that affect Medicare monitoring a patients usage requirements to enable them to receive the required monthly supplies?

There's no reason to get supplies on a monthly basis, that's entirely unnecessary and wasteful.

How so, Medicare allows for the supplier to send a 3 month supply of the facemask portion for example. That eliminates the end user from having to place an order monthly. My supplier will not take an order until the 30 or 90 days cycle has completed and then it takes about 10 days for the order to arrive.

Your DME can still satisfy any usage requirements from the machine stored hours of use or the SD card data.
So usage hours requirement data is available if the DME needs it but they may not even need it.
If they do it is usually once a year.
Contact your DME directly to figure out what they will need later....if anything.
