Raw nose...
I would like to use the DreamWear Full Face CPAP Mask (which I own) as it feels much better than the full face mask, but I can't wear it more than one night due to extreme nasal irritation! My nose literally breaks out into sores. They are so bad that I can't even put on the mask the next night due to the pain which of course keeps me awake. I can't imagine that I'm the only person in the world who experiences nasal irritation with this type of mask. Any suggestions on how to overcome this? My current full face mask works very well, but the DreamWear mask is far less "cumbersome".
Thank you!
Thank you!
Re: Raw nose...
um, i think you had a sentence malfunction there. that sentence shows you comparing the full face mask to the full face mask??Powerhands wrote: ↑Mon Apr 11, 2022 1:41 pmI would like to use the DreamWear Full Face CPAP Mask (which I own) as it feels much better than the full face mask,
perhaps you meant a nasal mask or nasal pillows?

Re: Raw nose...
Or, is OP talking about a "prior" FFM and a "second" FFM being the DreamWear? The sentence as written is confusing.

Re: Raw nose...
Sorry!
I wear a full face mask right now and have for the past year. I would like to wear the one with the nasal pillows that I also own, but am unable to due to the nasal irritation...
Re: Raw nose...
Ahhh....that's a little clearer.
First of all make sure that you have the nasal pillows sized correctly and you don't have them cranked down too tight.
Those are the most common errors people make. They don't need to be very snug to stay in place and keep the seal.
They shouldn't break the skin or rub a blister....if they are then something is wrong with either the size or fitting.
Nasal pillow masks shouldn't cause anything more uncomfortable than very minor tenderness....sort of like what you feel when you push on a bruise.
If you have an abrasion or it's extremely tender or sore....go get some Lansinoh lanolin ointment/cream and apply generously during the day but sparingly at night. Too much will cause it to liquefy from your body heat and then you might wake up with one of the pillows in your ear. Don't laugh...the reason I mention this is because I did that very thing.
Lansinoh is a product that breast feeding moms use for nipple irritation. Totally safe for babies, nasal pillows and your nose. The using it during the day will help the soreness heal faster. It's found in most stores in the baby aisle where bottles, nipples, pacifiers, etc are found. A little pricey for what you get but you really won't use all that much and it lasts forever.

Re: Raw nose...
Powerhands,
I used the dreamware nasal mask before switching to the Dreamware FF mask. I really liked the comfort of the nasal mask, but I could only use it for 2 weeks before my nose got sore. I switched to the Dreamware FF mask over a year ago. The FF is just about as comfortable for me, and the silicon much softer around the nose. I haven't experienced any discomfort or irritation problems after a year of constant use. I can't use pillow masks because they irritate the inside of my nose. So, I don't have an answer for you, but that's my experience.
