I don't think that there's a "real" increase, so much as increased awareness of the problem. There was an allusion to that idea in the article, though you'd never know it from the title.
I think that it would be very difficult to titrate a pregnant woman, as the need would likely change as the pregnancy advances. After the child is born, it would need to be determined if she still needs treatment and, if so, what would the post-delivery settings be?

Pregnancy might be a good argument for using an APAP.
