What can we do about inferior recall replacements

Post by nate.sewell » Sat Apr 02, 2022 1:58 pm

I just received my recall "replacement" for my Dreamstation Auto BiPAP.

Needless to say it does not appear to be a BiPAP machine. What can we do about this? This is an unacceptable, inferior product.

Any help would be appreciated.

Call the DME and ask them what's what - it could just be a simple logistic goof.

What do you mean, "it does not appear to be a BiPAP machine". Is it a BiPAP or not? What is the model?

To my knowledge there are no DreamStation 2 BiPaps of any kind yet.
Respironics has been cranking out the APAP models.

Exactly what were your settings on your BiPap that was part of the recall?

There are no DS2 BiPAPs yet, but the Philips recall program has been sending our DS1 APAPs/BiPAPs, as well as DS2s.

As noted by other responders there is NO such thing as a DS2 BiPAP yet, and they sent me a DS2.. that's what I mean

Kindly point out where I stated DS2 BiPAPs are being made.

And as noted by me, DS1 BiPAPs *ARE* being distributed.

I was pretty clear about that in the post immediately above your response.

I never mentioned a DS1 in that response post and said there are no DS2 BiPAPs.. same as you said, I'm agreeing with you, and using your comment as the foundation

What does this mean?

DME is durable Medical Equipment, no?

Yes, I meant they may have handed out the wrong thing, but I hadn't reailzed it apparently doesn't even come in a bipap.

I thought the recall replacements were coming from Philips and NOT the DME. If that's the case, what good would calling the DME do?

Manufacturers commonly distribute all products through their DME network.
Only dealers are set up to ship to individual patients.
Manufacturers normally ship bulk to dealers.
Did you save the package, mailing label, or packing slip?
Where was it shipped from?
My guess--somebody messed up . . .
Another possibility: does your PRESCRIPTION specify bilevel, bipap, or just APAP?
Does Respironics have your original bipap? Or do you?
