Periodic Breathing 3% and..

Post by TiredonMostDays » Wed Mar 30, 2022 2:44 am

Morning everyone.
I have been using a CPAP machine for around 8 years and i that time have had adhoc fluttering's of periodic breathing in the 1 percents. Last night, I had some very vivid dreams off the back of feeling that i was awake at several points in the night. The overall percentage of PB was 3% and i perhaps have only thought something of it if not for waking up with what im sure is muscular pain in the left side of my chest (happening when i try to sit up and repeats everytime). I stretched it out and it seems to have gone. I saw that someone used Oscar to look at their data and I did the same and saw that this PB episode was not a one off, i have attached some of the events. Im worried about heart issues now, not that i have been diagnosed with any. Am i just in full on panic mode for no reason?

Thanks
TiredG

As my long ago MD employer once said... "the heart is a muscle too"... so I'd want a recheck (maybe with e.g. exercise/treadmill type of thing - or whatever MD suggests) but also see an orthopedic MD or physiotherapist re the problem once you're cleared of cardiac issues.

I agree with Julie that it'd be good to report the chest pain to your doctor to see whether it needs a follow-up.

I didn't see your attachment. Was it an Oscar chart? It'd be useful to see your chart for the whole of the 3% night, plus a zoomed in view of around about 12-15 seconds long that includes PB.
Oscar software is available at https://www.sleepfiles.com/OSCAR/

Hi both,
For some reason the attachments didnt attach. I did end u[p speaking with the lung function people at hospital (who put me on CPAP) and they reassured me things were okay. Thanks for coming back to me though
