I would not have chosen to use another Philips CPAP, but a brand new DS2 showed up for free. My DS1 was six years old anyhow. I was in the process of replacing it, but that unannounced arrival of the DS2 torpedoed that. I have to say that it does seem to be a good machine.

My main complaint was that it did not support OSCAR, but that will be fixed very soon (thanks to the devotion of the OSCAR developers).

My other problem is that the clips on the tank lid and the fitting on the tank for those clips appear rather flimsy. I'm afraid that they might break, especially when I start traveling again.
I am still waiting for DS2. I registered with Phillips in August 2021. If I may ask, when did you register?

What is the status of OSCAR support for DS2?

The OSCAR development team has cracked the encryption, OSCAR DS2 support is in beta testing.

That is not very comforting. Phillips can always change the encryption that will not be so easy to crack. I am staying (for now) with my plan to change to the AirSense and sell or donate the replacement

Agreed, the DS 2, and all future Philips products are all one upgrade away from breaking OSCAR compatibility.

Philips should *not* be rewarded for this customer support. My only suggestion is to let them know *why* you are moving to ResMed.

I can't find the records, but thanks to OSCAR, I know when I stopped using the DS1 and when I started using the DS2. I stopped using the DS1 on 30-May-2021 and started using the DS2 on 13-Sept-2021.

I stopped using the DS1 as soon as I heard of recall and reported it shortly thereafter. I used the DS2 the night it arrived.

BTW, I used my old machine during the interim period. It is an F&P HC-231 (which I had used from 2005 until 2009). If any issue or problem arises with the DS2, I will use it again.

This is why we try to keep a spare, even if it is an oldie, (and still works.)

Preferably NOT a ###### brand like respironics.

Option 5. I continued to use my machine.

I never noticed any black flecks. My replacement DreamStation 2 just arrived today. I plan to try grab the latest stats from my DS1 and switch to the new machine tonight. Good timing, too, as I've got two trips coming up, and it'll be nice to have a smaller machine.

Here's hoping it is no noisier than my current DreamStation.

John

Thanks for the reply. May 2021 puts you ahead of me by four months (Aug 2021) in terms of registering. I am sure the registrations boomed between May and August 2021. I was trying to gauge the lag time between registration and receiving the DS2.
It doesn't look promising for me 7 months later and counting.

Sadly, my backup is a DS (non-auto). :(

Don't feel bad, my back-up was a 2009 F&P non-auto but was using a Phillips 60 series.... but who cares, you use what you have. I bought a Resmed airsence 10 auto when all this went down . I spent a week with my son and left my machine at home because he had a PR Dreamstation as a spare for me to use. We actually both now use Resmed airsence 10 autos and will never go back to Phillips.
Cheers
Nan
