Weird pop-up

Post by chunkyfrog » Sun Jan 30, 2022 7:41 pm

I just refreshed my view of this forum; and a weird pop-up . . . Popped up.
It referred to a birthday message pop-up from this site, and asking for
permission to allow pop-ups.
I declined, but it then occurred to me that the refusal may not even be a real decline.
Has anyone else had this happen?
Real hinkey.
I have NEVER had pop-ups from cpaptalk, and I suspect this was from a third party.

I've never seen any pop-ups here on the forum.

If it's near the birthday you put in the forum software, I think there's a "happy birthday" popup.

Yeah...but not necessarily "near" your birthday. I got the Happy Birthday cake the first week of 2022...and my birthday is in May....and in May I will likely get another one. This has happened every year since we did the big software update here 3 or 4 years ago. I have got 2 cakes for 3 or 4 years now...or however long it has been since that update when we lost age and gender showing up on our profiles when we post.

I have never seen the question to allow it or not though but maybe the pop up question came from some ad or pop up blocking software CF was using.

Might be.
My tablet has some leftover garbage from verizon, several years ago.
I only use it for wi-fi, since it is not compatible with spectrum, my current carrier.
I avoid updating anything; updates are seldom good, IMO.
