• They are not necessary

Ozone can prematurely age and degrade your mask and hose. Lots of complaints of yellowing and brittle material.

Plus it doesn't actually clean away any snot, slobber, dirt, oils, etc. At best it might nuke any germs or bacteria but the grime is still there.

Most ozone cleaners recommend a prewashing anyway to get rid of grime, dirt, snot, slobber, facial oils, etc.....that's because ozone doesn't remove them.

Ozone has some effect on viruses, but collateral damage makes
useful concentrations extremely unsafe to use outside of an industrial setting.
Ditch the ozone.

Somewhat off topic, but you had mentioned (somewhere) the awful stinky odor that you observe when you accidentally let your humidifier tank run dry.
I’m certain that you are not alone in that observation, but I wondered how the odor can be explained.
Both of my humidifier tanks have never seen anything other than distilled h2o, so there should be no organics in the tank except what might have been brought in via the machine intake air.
So do you think that the humidifier water is absorbing organic contaminates, that concentrates as the tank water is depleted, then when heated generates that stinky odor?

No...nothing so ulterior... It smelled just like hot plastic smell when I burn something plastic in the burn barrel.
It's nothing more than a hot plastic smell and when I had it happen with the dry water chamber it dissipated quickly and I didn't even notice it the next night.
Never got hot enough to melt but sure got hot enough to smell like it was melting....100% sure that is what happened.
Smelled just like the plastic milk jug I burned in the burn barrel.

It all makes sense.
Plastics need organic components.
Those components break down with heat--sometimes just a little heat.
We can smell the results.

Ok, just wanted an hour suggestion /thought.
In the plastics industry we would call that off-gassing (emission of a gas or odor without melting or physical change).
Similar to the “new car smell”

Another reason for the metal bottom.
The area receiving the most heat is not a polymer.
Now that I think of it, I got the same funk with my S9,
where the bottom is half of the entire tank.
Apparently, some of the funk was biology cooking . . .

Some years ago, when I first started using my CPAP (think the 1st week), my CPAP tank ran dry.
There was a noticeable burning smell of some sort that woke me and alerted me that something was wrong.
When I found out the tank had run dry, I also observed a tannish colored area on the heating plate.

I believe the smell was the metal (stainless steel???) heating up?

Granted, the heating plate is not hot enough to burn you. You can actually remove your tank and place your hand on the interior heating plate and you'll see that it will not get hot enough to burn skin. The interior plate does heat up quickly (within 5 seconds) but again, it's not hot enough to burn your fingers. Just very, very warm.

Again, I believe the smell was the metal plate heating up - as is obvious from the tannish spot over the heating element in the CPAP.

BTW, I still use this same tank to this day - 5+ years later. The tannish stain is still there - I've never tried to take something like steel wood or anything else to it to give it a good scrubbing other than the soft scrubby side of a kitchen sink sponge. I only use distilled water and wash it out about every 2-3 weeks with simple soap and water (although I have experimented with vinegar, small amounts of bleach, and those tablets used for soaking my kids retainer in).
