Dr changed me from CPAP to Bipap

Post by hcamacho » Fri Sep 10, 2021 7:29 am

I’ve been on cpap for 4 years. I noticed last year that I kept waking up with the pressure so high I had to turn my machine off and back on to reset in order to go back to sleep. I obviously missed my 2020 visit due to COVID, and they finally listened to me in May to get an appointment. Everything is delayed so it wasn’t until end of July they sent me for what I thought was another full sleep study, but it was titration. They didn’t titration me on my cpap but rather a bipap, and then switched me to this BIpap nightmare. It’s been a month and I don’t sleep, have had a sinus infection from the pits of hades. I clean my machine religiously and never had one caused by my cpap ever. My events are increased on bipap, and I feel like garbage. Sore throat when I wake up (they adjusted my levels again last week because I was waking up snoring), now I wake up with this scratchy feeling in my throat that goes to my lungs. I’m exhausted, cranky, and feel miserable. They told me they switched me to bipap because I desaturated on the titration to 85%, and I’ve gained weight. Nobody knows if I desat on the cpap. Anyone have any advice?

My Airsense10 was set at Auto 5-16 and my Aircurve10 is set 7-13.

Does anyone have any ideas, suggestions, or questions I could even ask the doctor so I can sleep again? I can’t take much more of this.

Does anyone have any ideas, suggestions,
Go to the top of the index page and read the post for newbies. Learn to use OSCAR and post a screenshot in this thread.

A dry throat is often caused by mouth-breathing. Which model mask are you using?

BTW, there are three models of AirCurve 10 - S, VAuto and ASV.

I updated my profile to include my models, but I am assuming that it's not available yet. I am currently in the Aircurve10-vauto. Using an amara view mask with climateair tubing. Yes, I am a mouth breather, but didn't have this problem on the cpap (I used an Airsense10Auto)

I know how to use Oscar, but unfortunately cannot access the SD card contents due to not having anything that can read it.

If you tell me what info you need, I can get it, but I just can't access via OSCAR.

Thanks

There is some limited data available on the machine's LCD Screen. Better than nothing.

Does your computer have a USB port? If it does there are adapters available so you can use the USB port to access SD card contents.

Without more detailed information all we can do is make wild ass guesses as to what might be going on with your therapy.
Might as well be using the Magic 8 ball for answers. Useless.

Haha! Very true! I'll get one later today, and post the results. Although a magic 8 ball may give a better answer than my doctors office.

To access the data on your screen's Sleep Report, you need to make a settings change... Go in and make sure "essentials" is set to "plus".

Those aren't bilevel settings. What's it actually set to?

Get OSCAR

You forgot ST and ST-A (which couldn't be more different, notwithstanding the "-A" difference in naming).

If you are using a laptop, there is a good chance it has an SD reader. It's a small slot - can be a bit hard to find.
