How bad is my sleep apnea?

The study found I only have hypopneas. Does this still require treatment?

If the hypops keep you from getting proper sleep, yes it does, but... If you're a person who mostly sleeps on your back, that can provoke lots of hypopneas, and if you otherwise don't have many (if any) apneas, you might want to do whatever you can to not back-sleep... people use all kinds of tricks to make sure they don't flip overnight and we can advise if necessary.

Obstructive apnea.....80 to 100% reduction in air flow that lasts at least 10 seconds.

Hyponea.....40 to 79% reduction in air flow that lasts at least 10 seconds. Looks like your sleep study used a 30% minimum reduction.

Yes....hyponeas do matter and they do count and they are important. If they weren't important no one would bother measuring and counting.

Watch the video.

Yes...you earned a diagnosis of Obstructive Sleep Apnea and a cpap machine to treat it.
Technically it is classified as "moderate".
