Last pics...after boiling...
Maybe I should have used the same background as before...

Unless you're living below sea level, I'm suspicious about the accuracy of your thermometer

The boiled cushion looks a little less cloudy, might be my imagination.

Re: Nasal Pillow Cleaning - P10 Nasal Pillow
So....I looked around to find an old P10 that was used and looked yucky.
Below are before and after pictures and I think it will be easy to spot.
I used distilled water because I already knew that my well tap water, which is high in mineral content, would give me really added cloudiness.
2 Cups distilled water
2 TBsp baking soda
boiled 10 minutes
Rinsed in distilled water as well. What I did was pour enough distilled water in a bowl to dunk and rinse the pillow.
I did NOT wash the pillow in regular soap and water prior to boiling...in fact no soap used at all.
Fairly impressive results...still a bit of yellowing from age and exposure to air.
Old pillow on the left...brand new pillow fresh out of the box on the right.

Wow Pugsy...those cleaned up really nicely!
It's a night and day difference in the color change.
I have been wondering though...while a 10 minute boiling bath will certainly clean things up...I wonder if there is any long term damage or will lead to future breakdown of the silicone? I doubt it...but just something I'm wondering in the back of my mind. I know that silicone is heavily used in high-temp situations with cooking so obviously silicone is one tough material when it comes to heat.
I guess I'm long term testing my pillows now - as I boiled them quite well...and I'm gonna see if I can get another 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, 1-year out of my current pillows!

I also doubt there would be any long term damage but since the idea is to get a little more life out of a nasal pillow destined for the trash can....anything is better than nothing.JLROhio wrote: ↑Fri Aug 20, 2021 10:08 pm.I wonder if there is any long term damage or will lead to future breakdown of the silicone? The boiling method probably isn't something someone wants to do regularly anyway. Way too much work IMHO.
I would still try the easy way first...soap and hot water wash.
