Wow !! 0 Leaks several months

Post by Architect » Thu Aug 05, 2021 9:59 pm

Hi friends, desired to share last year I switched over to Resmed Airtouch F20 from Qauttro, many issues at first, headgear, leaks, etc... Once I figured out how mask fits on my face properly, I ordered Silent night mask liner and neck padding.

Past several months 0 leaks !!!!!!!!!!!! No Ahi over 1 !! I download data from Resmed Myair past 3 months, don't know how to attach image. I'm still in disbelief.

My little secret, suppose to change liners every week, I change once a month  The trick is, wash or wipe face down, before using mask liner.

Sleep wonderful friends............

To OP - I use a pillow mask (Brevida) and most nights I get VERY few leaks. Less than 1% of the time over redline. However there are one or two nights per month when large leaks are a problem. Although I normally do not wash my face before bed, do you think washing my nose would help? That may sound like a crazy question but I am serious. Wat do you think?

Hi friend, fantastic leak results. TBH I wouldn't know, cause I never used nasal pillows, sorry. Hopefully, someone can chime in that use nasal pillows.

But looking at Brevida mask, and if your face get oily, I would clean around the nose area with wipes, see if that helps. I use unscented, no alcohol baby wipes.

Baby wipes should not EVER contain alcohol.
That stuff STINGS!

No, they shouldn't. However, using alcohol on the silicone mask to clean it *IS* a *GOOD* idea, because the alcohol won't hurt the silicone, but it's very effective at removing facial oils.

feels good, don't it? :D

now my obligatory disclaimer to the newbies-

we don't "chase" zero, but it still feels good when we get it.
people say i'm self absorbed.

For those who have used Silent Night liners and write of 0 leaks - do you tighten your FFM tighter? I used my first SIlent Night liner last night and loved the feel of it going on but upon awakening was presented with an orange/red sad face for SEAL on my Resmed display.

Any tips? What am I missing here? I had always wondered how a porous cloth between my skin and the silicon cushion could actually improve on leaks.

If I understand correctly, OP is using ResMed My Air app, which only reports leaks over redline, so OP could have 23 lpm of leakage and My Air would say 0.

Don't think so. According to this discussion there is also a L/min data point on the MyAir app report.
Maybe it's in a different area than the "score" numbers.
http://www.apneaboard.com/forums/Thread ... ew-formula
This guy is seeing L/min and mentions "usually in the teens" which is of course below 24L/min
Discovered the new 30 day MyAir yesterday. I have written recorded data from MyAir for part of November 2017. Vast majority of leaks were under 24L-Usually in the teens. Now the new 30 day listing gives markedly increased values for those exact same past dates- 30's to 50's! All the other AHI, duration, mask on off are correct. I have informed my sleep physician and am waiting for an answer. Last night I had a "smiley" face on my Resmed LCD screen meaning the leak was under 24L, but the MyAir online report says 25L. The leak function is just erroneous and I hope it doesn't result in untoward effects or changes in patient's therapy/compliance status.
Can someone using MyAir confirm or not? I don't use it myself.

The S9 models were well known to get stuck reporting a certain number for prolonged periods of time.
I hadn't heard of the AirSense/AirCurve models getting stuck but since the fix is easy....just unplug the machine and do a forced reset of the software....that's what I would do.
I would also verify with OSCAR. Anytime I see any sort of weird looking and not "normal" data point I verify with some other software.

I haven't seen any changes in MyAir, nor noticed any "markedly increased values".

My MyAir leaks aligns well with The OSCAR historical statistics. Having said that OSCAR reported leaks never align exactly with MyAir's. BlueDragon has occasionally commented on occasional differences between OSCAR and ResMed/MyAir, often attributing it to rounding differences, sometimes exasperated by cumulation and multiple sessions. MyAir also only reports in whole numbers.

I've never been concerned about the slight differences between OSCAR and MyAir, but no, there is not a significant difference.

Does MyAir report leaks in L/min??? Someone said that MyAir only reported leaks when over 24 L/min.
That's what I was wondering. I thought MyAir reported the 95% leak number like the machine does on the LCD screen sleep report.

Now I could see a 0 deduction on the "score" that it gives if someone didn't go into large leak territory...but a 0 deduction isn't the same as 0 leak.

Yes.
Thank you.

Since I am using a "used" machine I can't setup up MyAir even if I wanted to (which I don't) as it was once registered to someone else and the hurdles, I would need to jump just to get something I don't want anyway, are more than I want to jump.
I thought it reported the 95% number or maybe that's the max??? Anyway it does report more than 0.
