Mild to moderate sleep apnea

So I had a sleep study done a few months back. They said that I have mild sleep Apnea during regular sleep( stopped breathing 6 times) but had moderate sleep Apnea during REM sleep (stopped breathing 26 times.) So I just got my CPAP machine 2 days ago. I havent really seen alot of difference( I know it can take longer than others). I have had slight headache using the machine, is that normal? Im real question is this... having mild and moderate sleep apnea, will the CPAP machine really help me out?

It might, but we need info to help - what model of which machine do you have, set at what pressures? What mask? Do you take any meds at all?

Given what you said, you might not have a fast obvious difference, but it still might make 'the' difference in how you feel.

Welcome, and congratulations on starting treatment for your sleep apnea. In addition to Julie's questions, I'd be curious what led you to get a sleep study.

It's very common to have various kinds of discomfort as you get used to sleeping with the mask and pressure. With a headache, for example, you may be holding your head in a slightly different position than usual, or the straps of your mask may be a little too tight.

One way to speed up your adjustment to PAP is to set up your machine outside your bedroom and use it during the day or evening for an hour or two while you watch TV or read. This just helps your mind and body to get used to the new sensations.

It can take some time before you feel the benefits of PAP during the day, but if it is reducing your AHI, you're doing your long-term help a favor right from the start.

the answer is, yes it can. but cpap therapy isn't as straight forward as the doctor would have you believe. we are all different and take to therapy as individuals.

please start by doing as julie suggests; give us some info.

I use a Airsense 10 with a n20 mask. The only meds I take is Omezaprole, I think thats how you spell it (acid reflux medicine).

Close, but Airsense 10--what?

there are more than one model of the airsense 10. which do you have?

as you can see, there are four. we aren't being pedantic. the different machines have different capabilities. we need to know what you so we know what advice to give you.

if you're uncertain, the reference number will be on the bottom label.

And the small label on the front should tell you in plain English.

Is it an Autoset or plain Cpap? Respond is not part of a model name - ResMed is a brand name.

I think that the model 37028 is the AirSense 10 CPAP AutoSet.
Never heard of the AirSense 10 Respond.

I believe that it is.

yup, it's on the link i gave you. were you unable to see it?

anyway, the good news is that it IS an autoset and you can use available software called oscar to track and improve your sleep.

do you feel comfortable changing your own pressures? and do you know what your pressures are currently?
