My AHI was 43.6 with oxygen dropping BETWEEN 63% to NAXIMUM only 80%. As per sleep study. I was more frightened by the oxygen sats than the apneas. Although 43.6 is classed as severe, ive heard some people much higher. But mine last up to 45 seconds, so at over 43 per hour, not much breathing happening , hence oxygen being so Low ie the duration of apneas...not just the number. My AHI average monthly is now 9, but have noted the odd 12. Don't know what my oxygen sats are as.havent an oxymeter. I have seen people getting down to even 0.5 ! But the ideal goal seems to be below 5. I'm still waking far too often and as I sometimes dont fall asleep until 5 or 6 am. And get about 2 to 3 hours, waking 6 times in that 2 to 3 hours is exhausting me.
I dont really understand why I can't get my central apneas down. Out of the AHI 9 or 10 (up to 12 though, centrals account for 6 or 7. Is auto cpap and have set range 5 to 14. But although my AHI is about 9 to 12 (some nights 12) my P90 is 13?? Suggesting pressures are good?
Looking at hypo and obstructives, they would sit most nights just at the 5, but documentation suggests under 5 is controlled . So although I'm. on the border, it's the
centrals that push it up to around 10.
Im not sure what to dot's? I read that centrals are nothing to fo with obstructions, so quite different ie it's the brain not signalling the lungs to breathe. It kind of makes sense as I'm a complete paraplegic due to a spinal cord injury. In the spinal world you can v
Be a complete or incomplete. Complete basically means total loss of sensation and movement, whereas as incomplete has a range in either area eg some sensation some movement. Some movement but no sensation etc..... sleeping on my back us worse but if im put on my back it's where I stay lol.
Any suggestions on how I could adjust pressures, despite P being 13??
Regards brain fried and exhausted
AHI Central apnea help
Re: AHI Central apnea help
Need more details.
Machine brand and model....all the pressure settings including exhale relief if used...did you have central apneas of any substantial number on your diagnostic sleep study...was the sleep study done at home or in a sleep lab?????
Hopefully you have a machine that can give us more details by using available software.
See this thread.

P90 is 13....is that meaning the 90% pressure is 13? If so, all that means is for 90 % of the night your pressure was at OR BELOW 13 and that doesn't mean much. It does NOT mean that for 90% of the night you were averaging or at 13.
