I'm new to this community, but have had a CPAP (Resmed Airsense 10) for 2 years now. Up til now, I have had no problems/issues with it.
Yesterday morning, the machine got knocked off the end table it's on and what was left of the water in the reservoir poured into it. I took it apart and washed the parts that I could and let them dry thoroughly yesterday. But, last night, a musty smell was coming from inside the machine itself. It was so overwhelming (I'm sensitive to smells), I could not use it and slept restlessly without it.
What do I do to clean inside the machine? Because of the electronic components, I obviously cannot wash it like the hose, mask, or reservoir. I just cannot use it until I get it smelling clean again.
Please help. Thank you.
Musty Smell Inside the Machine
Re: Musty Smell Inside the Machine
You can't clean the inside...If you have already opened the machine, you have voided your warranty. The smell could be from the water soaking into the insulation foam. I think your best bet is to run the machine outside in warm dry air.

Re: Musty Smell Inside the Machine
You can open and disassemble the ResMed machine very easily and take it fully apart if you must to allow it to dry out...and even to wash out the foam inside if you believe it has mold in it.
Here is a video link to how its done -----> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dpI0AVo ... ntsReviews
The most difficult part is getting a hold of the correct Torx screwdriver bit - you can buy a simple set from Harbor Freight or even Amazon.
The beauty of the screws on a ResMed is that they are ALL the same size!
As to the warranty comment - I agree that you could void your warranty but you mentioned you had the machine for two years - so I believe it is out of warranty anyway.
I will also add, that there is no warranty tape or seals that I have seen on any ResMed's so no one would ever know that you took it apart anyway.
Again, it's not that hard - just watch the above video link and you'll see what I mean. If you are not mechanically inclined and don't trust yourself...find someone that is - just make sure they're not someone that's just gonna tear into it...some simple finesse is required as to not break anything...but again, taking apart a ResMed is not too difficult or rocket science.
Just make sure it's UNPLUGGED when you take it apart - I had to add that part because I'm sure someone may take it apart while plugged in and turned on!!
This is why we have warning labels on hair dryers instructing users not to use a hairdryer in the shower!!
