Local DME or online store?

I need to replace my recalled Dreamstation. It's 5 years old, so my insurance will cover a new one. I'm wondering if anyone knows of a good reason why I should stay with my local DME rather than just looking to buy a new one online. I don't feel that the DME has done much for me, other than get me started on the machine and provide me with regular replacement parts, as well as letting me try some different masks when I asked them. Thoughts?

While I'm at it, I'll ask this, as well: Dreamstation 2 or a Resmed? Pros? Cons?

I'm a newbie. But considering what happens with foamgate and Respironics now, I would go Resmed all the way. DS2 is basically the same DS1 in a different, cheaper plastic shell. And I'm just being sold DS1 2 weeks ago...

Will your insurance policy reimburse you for an online purchase? Some policies won't.

Having a local DME file for the insurance benefit can be a nice convenience.

ResMed AutoSet.

Well, I've answered my own question by speaking with the people at my DME. They're super friendly and helpful, plus they are recommending that anyone (like me) who has a 5-year-old or older Dreamstation get the process going on replacing it, and their machine of choice these days is the ResMed, so it's all good.

Specify the AUTOSET or the Autoset for her.

I checked Verus Healthcare online, because it is listed as "in network" on my insurance company's website, but they only seem to sell the ResMed and Philips travel machines.

After using my own travel machine (Z2) for over a month now, and being told by my local DME that they're just not getting enough ResMeds shipped to them, I'm getting tired of waiting. The Z2 was fabulous for a week of travel, but I really need a humidifier for long-term use. I'm looking into Aeroflow Healthcare online now.
