yeah. i'm going to switch to my resmed as my primary and dig out my old intellipap to see if it still functions to use as backup.Julie wrote: ↑Mon Jun 14, 2021 3:21 pmWhew! Don't have to worry about my back-up machine that I'm using at the moment because... it's pre-2007 (a 2006) so isn't included!

This morning (before noon) when I heard the news I checked cpap.com's price for Resmed Airsense 10 Autoset:
It was $598.00
Now at 5:40 PM it is $624.99
It's just Business.

Re: Sticky: Phillips Respironics recent recall notice discussion thread
Called my DME to ask about next steps, she said I'd get a notice in the mail from Philips if my machine is eligible.
I don't know how to feel about this, if that happens. Presumably they'll try to push a DS2 on me but I'm kind of ResMed or bust right now.

Folks using potentially affected machines....don't expect to be notified very quickly if you are part of the recall.
Just the logistics of notifying over 400 million machine users is going to take a lot of time.
Don't assume that the powers that be will have your address...be proactive and at least do what the link provided above at Phillips said to do.
I don't ever wait for anything a DME says I should wait for to happen.

Your recall notice will just be a couple of years behind the killer air bags they put in your car!

This decade of bad news is the gift that keeps on giving. But at least the M- series is on the unaffected list, and I thought so lowly of it with how easy water messed it up its electronics and had so much fun taking it apart. If I'd only known.... Cough weeze cough gasp.

"Patients, Users, or Caregivers
Philips is creating a registration process that will allow Patients, Users, or Caregivers to look up their device serial number and begin a claim if the unit is affected.
Please check back soon as we will be adding this functionality within the next few weeks."
In this case, that sounds like being proactive and doing as the link suggests entails cessation of device usage, talking to the DME, and waiting on Philips to post the information to allow us to begin a claim....
unless I'm missing something....
I'm not going to stop using this thing before I have a secondary device, so it feels like my immediate options are either to spend $300-$400 on a secondhand thing or keep calm and carry on.

Re: Sticky: Phillips Respironics recent recall notice discussion thread
Not missing anything...my "being proactive" was targeted to people who call up their DME and ask what to do and the DME says "wait until someone contacts you" so they sit back and wait and wait and wait and expecting the DME to do all the work to see if a machine they sold someone 5 (or whatever) years ago is affected.
From the looks of the list so far....everything between the M Series and DreamStation 2 models are going to be affected unless they narrow it down more.
Exception being some high end ventilator units maybe that we never could figure out what grouping they belong to.
Most of us here though...we will be using one of the cpap/apap/bipap (including ASV, etc) models and not the ventilator models.

Re: Sticky: Phillips Respironics recent recall notice discussion thread
I wonder why it is just in the U.S.? Would other countries use different materials?
I'm due for a new machine this week and asked for the Dreamstation.

Re: Sticky: Phillips Respironics recent recall notice discussion thread
My understanding is the recall is world wide...for sure I have seen the US and Europe mentioned.
At least that is what I gleaned from someone I talked to today who talked to someone who worked at Phillips had some information to share.
If your DME happens to have a DreamStation 2 model (released just this past April I think) then you will be good to go because the DreamStation 2 model is on the unaffected list. It's only the first generation DreamStation and older models that are affected.
Side note....anyone wanting the DreamStation 2 and waiting for some reason...don't let any grass grow under your feet.
The DreamStation 2 is in short supply or will be very soon and it will likely be some time before that inventory builds up....again according to my source who has a source.
