What doctor hands out 30 tabs of oxycodone for a broken finger knowing what we know now about how little it takes to start opioid addiction??? He must live under a rock and needs his medical license revoked.
You'd be surprised. Recently saw a patient who was prescribed 45 oxycodone for an ankle sprain.

Aren't doctors getting a clue YET???

My daughter (just graduated from medical school) complained about "drug seeking patients" who showed up when she was doing adult med rotations. She didn't like when I pointed out that most of those drug-seeking patients were handed their first opiods by doctors who just wanted to get them out of their hair. She graduated medical school knowing how to prescribe them, but does she know how to teach a patient how to take them and taper so as to reduce the likelihood of addiction?

No one is immune to the temptation of "the easy button";
whether it's the patient needing pain relief,
or a doctor wanting a time-consuming patient to just go away.
(Don't they have to take some kind of OATH?)
