My name is Mary
About two year ago I was diagnosed for sleep apnea. I was told to get at least 4 to 5 hours of sleep. As time went I got to a pint to where I get tired wrong out. The home health talk to my primary doctor raised my cpap. My primary dr asked on how many hrs do I sleep I told her. She no you need to be on my cpap for 8hrs. I still get tired can't hardly breath. Monday have a phone conference with her to let her know. To me 8 hours is to long to be on a cpap.

Re: Cpap
Mary - there's a lot to sort out... the 4 hrs sounds like it is the number of hours you have to sleep (AT LEAST 4) with the machine every night for a few months so your insurance (you do have some?) will pay for the machine... but after that, it's best if you sleep as long as necessary to feel well - but a normal night's sleep, if not 8 hrs, then e.g. 6, 7. etc. Eight is not a magic number, but a suggestion. And if you sleep MORE than 4 for the insurance to pay, that's ok, it's not a limitation, but the minimum necessary for insce to pay.
It's also very possible the pressures on your machine were not set up properly for you to breathe well - it happens all the time - so please tell us what your minimum and maximum settings are if you know them, or if you only have one setting.
What machine do you have, which model of the brand name (look on top and in front of it and tell us all the words. And what is the name of the mask? Does it cover your nose and mouth, or just your nose?
We can help you get going and feel better once we have a better idea of what's what.

You are wrong....Any time you sleep, you should be using your machine.
