Feeling worse with new Apap
Hello,
I've been using the AirSense 10 AutoSet for Her for 2 years. I bought this apap on my own, and self treated my sleep apnea for this whole time. Because after 2 years I still find my sleep quality to be bad and non refreshing, I decided to get another home sleep study, which revealed an AHI of 41. My doctor sent me to resmed and they gave me the AirSense 10 AutoSet model. I will have an in lab sleep study in September.
The problem now is, I am waking up in the morning feeling much worse than I did with the for her model, and the feeling lasts the whole day. Foggy headed, dizzy, sleepy and generally unwell.
I know these two machines have a slightly different algorithm, could that be the reason for this? I am considering switching back to the for her model because I cannot imagine feeling this bad until September, but then my supplier wouldn't have the sleep data, and I don't know what I would say to the doctor either.
I'm adding two screenshots, one with for her model, one with regular airsense 10 autoset. I can't really see why I would feel worse with the Airsense 10 autoset, but maybe I am missing something. I've been using a full face mask with both.

Are you taking any new meds? Gained even a little weight lately?

No new meds, some weight gain though in the last weeks.
I only started the new apap 2 days ago though.

Personally, If you paid for the new AAP, I would give it back and keep using the For Her machine. They are basically identical.

Re: Feeling worse with new Apap
Well... they aren't identical algorithm modes.
One is the for her mode and one is the regular auto mode. There is a difference in the modes and why the for her model exists.
My guess is you are one of the people who sleep better with the for her auto mode than they do with the regular auto mode.
Numbers are about the same but the end result in terms of sleep quality is different and likely explains why you feel worse with the new machine.

Thanks! I didn't have to pay for the new APAP, I still hope it's possible to give it back.

That makes sense. I hope they will be okay with me using my own machine..

Good question
I'm just a bit anxious about it, overthinking the situation
