Humidifier heater broken, aircurve V10 auto ?

Post by Dusk2Dawn » Fri May 28, 2021 1:28 pm

I think the humidifier heating element may have gone out on my Resmed Aircurve V10 Auto , unless I have somehow turned it off. Just wondering if anyone else have their heater go out on their unit ( about 5-7 yrs old ) when all else works fine ?

Under "My Options " I have set the humidifer to level 2, then 3, then 4, etc.... and it shows that level on the screen [ My Options... humidity level ] , and yet the water never seems to get warm or seems to evaporate much [ I believe the bottom of the chamber felt warm to the touch before at these levels , but not now ]. Besides at level 4, the water would be evaporated quite a bit by morning, not so now.

I will try a higher level tonight, like 6 or 7, just to see if it gets warm. Is there any other setting I'm missing for the heated humidifier, or any diagnostic that I can run to check it it's working ?

Get a replacement from your dealer, the same way you would for anything else you buy (or rent) that's defective.

I have seen other reports of this happening with failure being repaired by replacement of a thermal fuse. Search YouTube for "resmed heater repair" and you'll find at least one video (unfortunately, it is relatively low quality). I've seen other reports of users not being able to repair the problem.

At 5-7 years old, your machine is probably out of warranty. If you have insurance, they may replace the machine.

Here's a good quality video that shows where the fuse is, and how easy it is to swap the heater plate completely. Humidifier parts are compatible between all Air10 devices.

The humidifier portion is at 2:20

What is the ambient humidity in your house?
If it is very high then the machine may not be heating and using much water because the ambient humidity is already fairly high and it just doesn't need to add much moisture to the air.

It is also possible that the heater element has died.
Do a little test...turn everything on and use the machine while awake and check the bottom of the water chamber for warmth after 15 minutes. Don't wait too long though. It goes through cycles of heating being on and off.

If that fuse is blown, any ideas where you can get a replacement or a new plate?

Replacing the fuse will be harder than it sounds. It was not designed to be easily replaced. I am sure that Digikey would have a replacement, but they won't identify it as a Resmed part.
