F20 mask leaks, but only after cleaning..help

Post by Jesperjotunheim » Sun May 16, 2021 7:18 pm

Hey all

I am new here, and I am trying to find some answers to a problem I have been having.
I have an F20 mask that seems to have a life of its own. It works great out of the box, snaps together and all that, but as soon as I take the swivel connector of the mask to clean it and plug it back in, it start leaking and make a horrible hissing noise. I have checked that its not between the harness part of the mask and the replacement cushion, or the vents in the swivel. It is only where the swivel clicks into the harness part of the mask, and I cannot even understand how its happening. Tried to undo it, put it back in, check for foreign materials, see of the connector somehow got damaged while i cleaned it (I am very careful, but you never know), And what ever I tried it just wont stop leaking.

Am I the only one who this happens to? This is the second time I have had it happen (The first time it went away on its own for some reason, never found out why), but now its back. Have only had this problem with my latest two masks/swivels, and I have been using the F20 for about a year now.

Any help would be great, because neither I nor my wife can sleep with that racket going on.

Cheers.

My wife and I have been using F20 masks since shortly after they came out. I don't remember when I last cleaned one of the elbows. When I did, I simply swished it in some warm soapy water, and rinsed under running water. I have never really scrubbed them. We have never had any problem with them leaking. The only thing I can think of is you may have damaged the flapper valves in the elbow.

That's why I rarely wash my masks.. I wipe them with a baby wipe every night and wash the cushions monthly. My cushions last 6-8 months.

Are you sure the two flaps in the anti-asphyxia valves close when the machine is running? They could be damaged.
