Nasal Mask and open mouth
Nasal Mask and open mouth
I use a nasal mask and have for years without a problem. But this week I have woken up with a dry mouth. Not the kind of dry mouth one gets from opening your mouth and air rushing out of your mouth but a milder one. What's causing it? Apparently there is no air getting to my mouth while I sleep. Normally on the nasal mask with some humidity from the heated tube some moist air will get to my mouth and so long as my mouth is closed I won't get dry mouth. But now no air is getting to my mouth. With the nasal mask on & the cpap running I can intentionally open my mouth and no air comes rushing out. It's bizarre. Or maybe it's just odd to me & others know what is going on with this situation. I would greatly appreciate any feedback. Thank you

welcome to the zoo!
would you mind telling us your machine and mask? you may have filled it out already, however a forum failure recently isn't getting the equipment profile presented as it should. so let us know that, please.
in the meantime, while i'm not addressing the fix, here's what you can do to alleviate the problem.
xylimelts. a wee disc that fits between tooth and cheek, it slowly melts overnight promoting saliva production.
found at at least two drugstores i know-riteaid and cvs.
also found on amazon.com
good luck!
